  1. EA82 85 Wagon I have a wacking/slapping sound. Kind of sound like a woodpecker, or when you hit a piece of metal with another piece of metal, that vibration sound... kinda of hard to describe. Its not knocking. Sounds like its coming from one side of the engine. It comes and goes. Seems worse when its cold. It also diesels sometimes.. I was thinking a timing belt is loose and thats what im hearing? Thanks, Wes
  2. I have discovered the problem to be the blower motor relay, i had to have them order it, in the meantime i need to check the motor. Can i just run a hot wire off the cigarette light and touch it to where the plug went into the motor, and if the motor is good, it should spin right? Thanks, Wes
  3. Are there any more fuses besides the one in fusebox?
  4. Ohh.:-\ lol How do i check this to see if its working correctly?
  5. 85 gl wagon My blower motor doesnt run at all. Checked the plug going into blower motor and no voltage. Took instrument bezel trim off to check the actual switch. But im not sure what to check to see if its working correctly. And What are those little fuse looking things with round ends? theres one white one, one blackish one, and one is empty. Thanks, Wes
  6. All i know is my tick/ping sound is gone. This turned out to be a very educational thread though.
  7. I am getting ready to drill out my hubs to Toyota six lugs. I am going to be running a 15 inch wheel. What is the absolute biggest tire i can run. I was hoping to get around the 27 inch range. I do not mind cutting at all, i have a sawzall,l cutting torch, and plasma cutter. Thanks, Wes
  8. Yeah i read in another post.. which i cant find right now, that several people had put it in directly through the intake manifold via pcv valve. In theory if you do it this way you wont have to change the oil. It says on the can also directions for going through the induction system. Just pour it in slowly while working the throttle because it will bog it down. You should get a lot of black smoke out the tailpipe, which will turn to white smoke and then you know your done. Like i said there are some other posts about going in through the intake instead of just putting it in the oil. just gotta find em. Good luck Wes
  9. My 85 wagon developed the famous tick... After about a week of it ticking, I couldn't take it anymore ( no radio to turn up ), Thought i would give seafoam a try. Pulled the 5/8 line off the pcv valve and poured seafoam directly in through the intake while working the throttle with my other hand. Only took about a cap full before the tick went away. Went ahead and put in about 1/4 can anyways. Needless to say its been a week and the tick hasn't come back and the car runs better than it ever has. Ive heard mixed response on seafoam, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. I think possibly if treated early on its very effective. If anyone is considering seafoam i would definitely recommend it.
  10. Got bolt out. Was able to take a dremel and cut a groove down the center and unscrew with a screwdriver. New question: I set the idle after the choke had completely opened. Its idling right around 900 according to my tac, warmed up. When i start it completely cold it seems like it takes to long to warm up. Probably about 5-7 minutes of giving it gas before it will idle by itself. It appears the choke is working correctly i can watch it open as it gets warmer. Any help would be appreciated, Wes
  11. Thanks for the reply. Did everything you said and now it runs good. Although i broke a bolt off in the power steering pump putting the reservior back on... Im gonna try to drill and easy out it tomorrow. M8x1.5 Right? Thanks again, Wes
  12. I am a new old subaru owner. Decided to do the weber conversion, ordered the the redline kit. Plugged all the vacuum lines i could find but am having a problem. Car starts and is getting plenty of fuel but wont idle. It is a 1985 Subaru GL wagon 4x4. I had to take the electric choke off so it would clear the power steering, will this cause me problems? Do i need to take the thick hard rubber spacer off that was under the hitachi? What vacuum lines do i have to have attached.. There are two coming off the distributer, not sure where these should go. And do i need one for power prake? Also wasnt sure how to throttle cable is suppose to be set up. The weber comes came with one attached with a return spring but i cannot figuire out the correct way to attach the throttle cable. There was one hole in the lever that i could jam the end through so it does work the throttle but i almost sure its not correct. I have searched the other weber posts but cant find the information i need. Thanks in advance, Wes
