anybody?

So i'm wondering if there is any other motors (besides another ej22 phase 2) that will fit into the 99 impreza outback sport? I'm having a hard time finding another phase 2. Can i just swap the phase 2 intake onto another ej22 and if so what year of ej22 will work? And is there any sure way to tell what year a motor is by the numbers on it? Thank you again for your help! The intake is definetly different! damit! sounds like i need to locate a phase 2 ej22 from a 99? i know this is now my best option! Thanks! Elliott

i have a 99 impreza outback sport that i bought with a bad knock in the ej22 motor so i found another ej22 and bought it. i got it home and realized it's a bit different. it only has 4 trans bolts compaired to six on the other motor/trans and it appears the wiring harness has different plug-ends on it!? is it possible to use this motor with a few mods or should i find one thats a perfect fit? Thanks in advance guys!

I need to swap out my 2.5 5-sp. with a 2.2 auto motor. wondering if i can use the same ecu, flywheel, exhaust ect... anything else i should consider or be prepared for? I guess i'm wondering if this is a pretty straight swap? and where can i find out how to read the 2.2 engine code to see what year it's out of. it's (584116583045) Thanks for everything!
