  1. have fun with being pampered in the airforce. that maid service we had when i stayed on an a/f base in kadena, okinawa, just killed me. or the pampered chef meals in the chow hall... and they were still complaining about how bad they had it... :Flame: have fun, and try not to use them stress cards in bootcamp... :brow: cakewalk, definately goodluck, and keep contributing to the goodwork our troops are doing!

yes i know i will be treated like a human being..lol and i there are not stress cards in basic thats just a rumor but basic in itself is going to be a cake walk for me well my dad raised me and hes a former marine. and its only 6 weeks long so ill be just fine. now what if i just keept the shackles that long and braced them do you think it would be stable enough or would that only be a good temp job...

  2. ya i was thinking about all of the above and the only reason its done the way it is now is because lack of money at the time and knowledge. for right now im just trying to get the thing moving and get as much stuff to it done as possiable before i leave for basic. but thanks for all the suggestions and i am open to any thing if you guys come up with some thing.

  3. now if it was me i would cover them. whos to say that you werent using them on the road if they werent covered. im sure that cop would be more than happy to write you a ticket. i never drove with them uncovered so i dont know i would just cover them up and be safer than sorry.

  4. Update: just got the motor to roar again. put in the dizzy and runs like a champ.

to answer of the of the questions. the reason i have that long of shackles is because the guy who fabed it (friend) didnt know what else to do. they are comming off of the subaru unibody. they are 12" long shackles with 4" lift toyota springs. i am running 35" xterains and i was planning of dropping some hangers for the front and rear leafs so there not so long i am not quite sure what you mean by reversin them. i am running stock 85 yota axles i plan on locking both front and rear. i have a nissan tcase and have the d/r 5spd in front of that. i also plan on runnin at least 5.13 in the axles. lol and the steering yes the steering well rack now i have a 85 box but its a push and pull. i want to convert to a side to side because steering right now is very iffy. but thats all in the future.

  5. ya sorry for the bad picture quality is was pretty dark out. and ya rob it sure has grown quite a bit.

Here, I lightened this one up a little so we could see it better.

Hard to believe that was my first lifted rig. Now its all growed up... snif:-p

  6. That thing is so nice!

When you are finished with it,I would love to see it sitting next to a stock size hatch!I think it would me cool to compare the two.

    Good job!:headbang:

that sounds like a good idea. now only if i could find a stock hatch...lol

  8. lol it should be done about the first week of january. then im takin it out everyday.

UPDATE: yesterday i picked up my motor. doing the swap sometime this week. will post pics

  9. well i have finally decided that it has been too long since i have drove my subie. and well in about 2-3 weeks its going in the shop and some one else is going to help me finish this long awaited project and should come out a week or two later finally finished. all i have to do left is tcase mounting drivelines and brakelines oh and swap in new motor. will try to keep you guys updated.

  10. well i have been building on mine for 2 years now ya its been quite a project. and well to say the least unless you have A LOT of time and ALL the tools ie plasma cutter and welder its just a waste of time. i really loved my subie the way it was with just a 4in lift. i had a lot of fun and the looks were great.. but then again i sitll havent takin her off road with the new setup. oh and update on the project. final got teh steering done. but all i have to get now is drivelines... its geting closer and closer...

  11. yes this is true but now i am not puting any money into my honda unless need be..(daily driver) and my hatch will soon be on the road and better yet the mud.

I am here to officially welcome myself back to the subaru world, after being gone so long.

This project, as well as DeathHatch's monster hatch on 35's with toyota axles, Divorced Tcase, Toy power steering and linkages, but alll subaru other than that, are both of my friends vehicles. They are currently sitting side by side in my backyard, under a large RV style tent/garage. Deathhatches progress is slowed due to the fact that he has a little honda hatchback that he keeps unjustifyingly modifying, and it leaves no money for his hatch.

The plan for the Monsteroo (redrum's official project name) is to not just "hillbilly" the subaru body onto the blazer frame, but instead chop the frame 10" so both vehicles wheelbases will be matched, and channel the subaru body on to it. it will be a much more time consuming process, but the end result shall be beautiful. Thats all im going to say for now, as i will let the pictures later on speak for themselves. Its going to be a number of firsts, and seconds(behind deathhatches) in the subaru world.

Hope to see you all at WCSS8

  12. ya i was wheeling when i first got my hatch and me being unexperienced i wasnt watching the trails too well. and wheeling at night didnt help the situation. ne ways im going down a trail and i got in a big rut. that wasnt the problem though the problem was that while i was in the rut my opposite tire ran over a tree root. and then she went over. frineds help me flip it back over and finished the night. made a cool dent in my door... well more like a crease..

  13. personally i would say the hatch back. for one it looks cooler and two it has the shorter wheel base. plus i have the hatch and it has never let me down except for the whole straight axle stuff. but that will be done and over with.

  14. addition: all the shackles will be braced as well as frame connectors, and a cage most likely, its not done yet, the steering is the biggest hang up. The steering shaft just isnt in the right spot for a box, its gonna take some custom stuff that im workin on getting taken care of.

  15. ya that swamper is um ya.... need a bigger spare... ne ways today was nice so i decided to take some pics of how we got the shackles mounted on the unibody frame...:)

and there you have it. from beginning to end. front shackle mounts and rear shackle mounts.

  16. well my buddy built this for me. and after this one im sure he doesnt want to do another one. and it also took us 9 months to get it done so far. srry

I may be in Longview this fall/winter. What would you charge to build me something like your hatch if I buy the car, pay parts and labor and help you build it?
  17. srry raven i will get some pics when its sunny out. and i dont plan on drivin it on the street. its going only in the mud and rocks

Oh sure.. respond to everybody else's posts and leave me out in the cold. :-\ :-p

  18. Your XT eats what for breakast, lunch & dinner? :D

I love that Hatch, how does it like turning those 35s?

I eat hondas for breakfast lunch and dinner - subaru. and i plan to also help turn those tires on gears. i have 4.11s in the axles and i can just use my hi 4 wheel drive on teh dual range. im hoping that will at least move me. it should. but then again i dont plan on going on the free way this is strickly off road.
