  1. Well i have been talking with my dad about buying his/my 84 subaru and officialy being my car. he was kinda hesitent about it and really it isn't in that great of shape, cosmeticaly, my little sister drove it before getting her own car, and hit someone and the owner before was rearended. but it has a strong running 1.8l engine and good tranny. Today i talked to him again and sugessted asking this old lady that lives down the road if i could buy her 81-83 ( cant tell what year is what ) suby gl wagon. im sure it has the ea71 and also 4wd. I plan to part out the 84 and use the engine and drivetrain on the one i could get for cheap. is it possible to swap all thoes parts over: rearend, engine, tranny, front breaks and so on. what parts are not compatable. will my 84 tranny work with that chasses. thanks for the help in advance. im kinda excited. my first major car work, besides a cluch job and 3 waterpumps.
  2. shhhhh......;)what they don't know won't hurt them....it was in my tool box and they didn't check....there fault.
  3. i found this at the junk yard while looking for various parts of intrest. an 84 suby turbo coupe. missing turbo:-\ If you wonder were i found it it was at the pull apart in the spokane vally.
  4. sounds like it was a good time. now i wnat to go a on a road trip:-\
  5. what parts do i need to make the spfi work on the ea81?
  6. i was pondering a disk brake swap on my 84 but after a break job they work better than my Scirocco breaks....acualy there kinda scarry.
  7. yea i havn't seen many of those.....ok that may change plans i was hoping for a cheap project....whats a good direction to take on a better carb....bigger maybe. Weber seems to come up on the board alot.
  8. thanks guys i did a search and found that same write up...BUT im going to be using the EA81 motor that is in the car. this writup is done on that later ohc engine. with the injectors right in the cylinder head. can anyone varify if it is possible to do on a EA81 motor. or is there a simpler FI system. I have a vw scirocco with the CIS injection and its super simple and ih ave a massive amount of VWs at local junkyards to hord parts from, the only big issue would be setting up the fuel pressure acumulator ( i think thats it ) and the were to put the fuel injectors.
  9. I leaned how to drive on an my dads 84 subaru gl. sadly it is nearing the end of its life, if i can save it i will. if i plan to keep i want to do a little playing around with the fuel system. is it at all possible to swap volkswagens CIS mechanical fuel injection into a carbed 84 gl. with enough work i think it is possible how about you guys. i may just do it for fun to further my knowledge about cars.
