  1. Thanks for the reply and also the links. Sorry, I didn't ask my question correctly. There are 3 Impreza in the local yards. However the personal seem to know nothing about Impreza. What I need to know is what Impreza years will the REAR seat belts work in a 1999 Impreza couple?
  2. I purchased a 99 Impreza RS 1st of the year for my son. For some the rear seat belts were missing. State law in Virginia requres rear seat belt. I need to know what years seat belts will fit the 99 RS ? I know the legacy was the same from 1999 to 2001. Is the Imprezs RS the same ? Also it a coupe. Thanks
  3. Thanks for the help Porcupine73 and Sea#3. Finally warmed up enough here to work outside. I checked the fuel pressure today and it running about 40-45 psi when I start the engine. However I noticed it's zero with just the ignition on and engina not running. I was thinking it was an electrical fuel pump ? I haven’t checked the idle air control valve yet..That's next. Trying to find one to exchange and test without buying a new one. I will also get around to checking the front A/F sensor (02 sensor) Once I find out what it looks like and where it is. The engine is now running so bad that I can’t drive it so hopefully I will find the problem before too long. Thanks again for your help.
  4. 99 Subie Impreza 2.5 RS Auto 70,000 miles My son's car has started idling rough and as low as 500 rpm and surges as high as 2500 rpm with the CEL on. Codes are PO 304, PO 303, PO 301, PO 170, PO 106 & PO 1143. I've read most of the threads dealing with the above codes and the Mass Air Flow Sensor seems to be the most logical and number one cause. I bough this car in January 07 and when I check "My Subaru" records it list the MAF as being replaced in Nov 2006 on a Subaru recall. Could the MAF have gone bad that soon or do I need to look for something else? It was drivable till I had the codes cleared at Advance Auto. It took me 20 minutes to drive 2 miles home. It was like the engine was out of gasoline but it never died. I spend most of the afternoon working on it. I changed the fuel filter, air filter, checked for vacuum and exhaust leaks. Cleaned the MAF with alcohol & Que tips with no noticed improvement. I would appreciate and welcome any suggestions. Thank You
  5. Thanks for the help Cougar. I've been working day and night on another project so had to put the Impreza on hold for awhile. I really confused, but that's not hard to do. I'm sure the EJ25 has a MAF sensor on the intake line to the air filter. Does that mean I have a MAP too? I sure can't find it. Where would it be located? This 99 Impreza is not stock. When I bought it last month it had two air filter boxes on it. One at the throttle throat and the other near the right fender well. That was causng the ECM to go into fault safe mode and causing all kinds of problems till I removed the filter on the fender well. The new pressure sensor isn't new , but it was a working sensor off my 1998 legacy. Replaceing it on the Impreza did turn of the CEL until it was started for the second time. It also stop giving a P0106 code error. Which at the time was the only error I was getting. I'm sure the pressure sensor was bad and the replaced one is good. Since I can't find the MAP sensor I'm not sure were to go from here ? Any Ideas ?
  6. Has anyone has any experience with a SECO Clutch disc a Korean company. I have a good price on a Exedy clutch kit for a 95 Impreza which includes a SECO clutch disc in the kit. Would appreciate any info good or bad. Thanks Fred http://www.secoclutch.com/english/e_about_01.htm
  7. I was getting a single error code: P0107 After replaceing the pressure sensor I now get a clear CEL for two or three engine starts, but once the CEL comes on it there till I reset it. Now I'm getting two new error codes: P0106 & P1143. What does this translate to? P0106 Pressure sensor circuit range/performance problem (low input) What the difference between P0106 and the P0107 ? The other code P1143 I can't find in the list of codes ? Anyone know what it translates to ? I seem to be going in the wrong direction. I've checked all vacuum hoses. Everything looks fine there. Wires also looks good. I have not a clue where to go from here ? Thanks, Fred
  8. After all is said and done it turned out to be the Pressure Sensor that was throwing the P0106 error code. Legacy777 was right all along. I took Pressure Sensor off my 98 Legacy with the same matching number. Put the old bad PS on the 98 Legacy and CEL came on. CEL was off on Impreza after reseting by disconnecting battery. However after the second engine start I'm now getting a P0106 and P1143 error code. I reset and CEL is off till I restart the engine second time. Still same error codes. Anyone know what would be causing those error codes ? Why only after 2nd restart ? I bought the pressure sensor off a 1997 Impreza at a salvage yard for $15. Put it back on the Legacy that I barrow the first sensor off of.
  9. I'm getting 17k, 30k and 50k ohms between the 3 legs. I did fine a cut in one of the vacuum hoses where it splits near the bottom and goes on the engine. I've glue up hole with some good glue and wait for that to set before trying it. I'm keeping my fingers cross that it the cut hose. Looks like someone used the wrong kind of tool to pull it off and may have cut it . I'm right sure it was leaking, but don't know if it was enough to kick the code or not. I've got a Pressure Sensor on my 98 Legacy that I will try next if this doesn't work. Thanks for all the help Skip and Legacy 777. Fred
  10. I just had a timing belt replaced on a 1998 Legacy by Subaru dealer shop. They replaced leaking cam seal or crank seal (I don't remember which)along with a leaking O ring and the timing belt plus oil change and filter for $300. I'm located in southwesten Virginia. Your shop must have more work that they want or something ?
  11. Is it one of these sensors? The one on the lower right with the hoses ? Think it would be the sebsor or the hoses ?
  12. My 99 Impreza w/AT has the FWD in the fuze box under the hood, but there is no fuze in that spot. Do you add a fuze to put it in FWD or take it out. What amp size fuze ?
  13. The code reads Airbag Control Unit. Subaru says $700 for control unit but they are not sure even that will fix problem. Plus no refund if it don't. Subaru won't even talk about installing a used control unit. I thought about installing a used one but concerned that used unit might deploy airbags ?
  14. Nipper Would the impact sensor need replacing if the air bags were not deployed ?
  15. I think are you correct about the filters. The tranny is doing fine now also. Maybe there isn't suppose to be two filters on the intake. BTW both filter are new. I'm thinking someone my have replaced the air intake duct with another air filter case. Maybe I have both, a filter case for the EJ25 and EJ22. I will attach a couple of drawing.. I'm getting only one code now and that is the pressure sensor. However, I don't think my engine has a pressure sensor. I can't seem to find it.. Thanks for you help. Fred
  16. The fluid looks like it was just changed. No discoloring or burn smell. I would say the seller already did that in an effort to fix the Tranny. The Tranny is doing fine now since I removed one of the air filters. Thanks for your help. Fred
  17. Thank for the infomation.. I've reset it several times and it keeps coming back in about 10 seconds after the engine starts. Would you know where the pressure sensor located ? And what it does ? Thanks Fred
  18. My Check Engine light is still on. I when by Advance Auto store and got the code read. It gave only one number PO107 which converts to : "MAP/BARO Circuit Low Input" according to the reader manual. Does anyone have a clue as to what that means ? I apppreciate and help anyone can offer. Thanks Fred
  19. I solved the majority of my engine and tranny problems this morning by just removing one of the air filters. I don't understand why there are two air filter in the 1999 Impreza RS anyway ? I attached pics of two different 1999 impreza and the air intake with two air filters looking the same in both pics? Does anyone know why there are two air filters? Both air filters were new but the combined air resistance of the two must have been starving the engine of air. The car is running a 100% better now although I'm still getting a Check Engine Light. I when by Advance Auto store and got the code read. It gave only one number PO107 which converts to : "MAP/BARO Circuit Low Input" according to the reader manual. Does anyone have a clue as to what that means ? I apppreciate and help anyone can offer. Thanks Fred
  20. I will go by Advance Auto today and get a code readout. If I do get a throttle position sensor error I have the workshop info on how to adjusted it to correct the ECM voltage signal to 0.45 -0.55v. The work shop info doesn't say where the ECM is located ? Would anyone know that location ? Also this engine has two air filter. One right at the throttle port and another one near the right inside fender well. The one near the fender well reminds me of the air filter housing that comes on the EJ22 and EJ18. The Mass air flow sensor is located in the one near the inside fender well. Why would I have two air filters ? The back tires are rubbing as I go around a curve if someone is in the back seat. The tire size on the car is P205-55R-16. Is this the correct size ?
  21. I just bough an Impreza and drove it 500 miles home Friday all the way with the AT shifting hard Up in 2nd, 3rd and 4th gear with a hard jerk . Down shift is fine. The AT temperture oil light flashing and the ECL on. The Engine idles rough and has power surges. Today it stop the hard shift till I got home , but started again on the next test drive. One other thing while turning tight at slow speeds it seems to be binding in the wheels. Could the problem with engine and tranny be one of the same? Where is the dropping resistor and what does it look like? I would be very greatful for any help anyone could offer. Thank You Fred
  22. Tcspeer, Are you talking about the connector lock on the Air Bag Control unit ? I have a newly acquired 95 Impreza with the air bag light on. The Air Bag control unit is under the ashtray and the connector lock is broken off. I was just wondering if that could be the problem ? I sure would like to get the air bags working properly. The car is being driven primarily by my teenage son. He loves the car, but I'm worried about the air bags not working if needed. Hate to get rid of car, but not worth the risk. Thanks, Fred
  23. I really feel dumb now.. I had just replaced plugs in a Toyota truck prior to the Impreza and didn't remember the Subie having the smaller 5/8". I just looked at the BkR6E-11 and realized my brain was out to lunch. Sorry for the CRS. I will try to do better.. Thanks for the wake up call..
