I have been tinkering with the thought of a 'ram-air' style induction concept for my '84 gl wagon. Got a question... ...Should'nt the emission pieces normally linking into the air assy. be "pre-filter" like the OEM. setup? Would a small PCV filter element be a sufficient replacement of such, similar to the design routing to the PCV valve on an OHV engine? And lastly, I've already removed the original vacuum motor and the scoop it is mounted to. Should this type of Heated Air Inlet (HAI) system be restored for best performance, or is it mainly better emissions?

First off...Incredible piece of work! I've never thought of a Subaru as the base for a "kit-car type" super-creation before. Did/Are you keeping a log of your progress in pictures and costs (misc custom changes, etc.)? I'd love to hear how it drives... Secondly, I checked out the rocklogic4x4 link, and thought the sandstone in the pic on the front home page with the blue jeep was a little familiar...Properties confirmed my suspicions...That's one of many Rock crawling events held about 2 miles from my house in Farmington New Mexico. Of course, I've left plenty of my own Subaru tire marks on that same kinda rock. The stomping grounds for my '84 GL Wagon...

Greetings to all of ya...I'm a new member on the 'boards; first post...anyway... I also mounted a cherry bomb on my Sube ('84 4WD 4-spd non-turbo wagon), using shims and clamps...kinda honky looking but they work none-the-less. That was about a year ago and now the clamps have been ravaged, and the "clamping system" a.k.a. bailing wire, is rather loose. I've tightened it several times, but the clamps holding the bomb onto the orig, pipe have lost thier hold, and can't be tightened so the unit has a bit of sag...and less clearance. Can't tell now as I'm used to it, but the sound differance was nice from what i had. When I originally installed it, I was mounting a new (well, junkyard new) front catalytic piece, stained with the previous owner's maintenance neglect...that finally burned off last week, so no more bad smell...
