  1. -> ... ^ Yes it is by the end of the sway/stabilizer bar. -> And I will keep you up on the updates this weekend. ^ I do appreciate your concern. As you can see my post history, most of the threads that I created was based mostly by questions on how to do this and that. ^ I've already introduced myself properly here. Sorry that I overlooked that part. I was depressed and agitated that we didn't finish the wagon that night. ^ I was looking on that part the entire time. My friend will double measure it before I coming inI'm about. And I thank Subaru LV & Subaru OEM for being so supportive on my wagon.
  2. -> This getting crazy, but I'm glad its over! -> Anyhow, I already placed an order for the part at Subaru of Las Vegas. I'm thanking ruparts for the part number, Subaru of Las Vegas & Subaru OEM Headquarters for specifying the specific part. Also at the same time, I've placed an order for the oil pan gasket just in case in the near future at Subaru OEM. -> So according to Subaru of Las Vegas, here's what the say: 16mm = All DL/GL FWD/4WD non-turbo 18mm = GL-10 & Turbo? FWD/4WD 19mm = ?????? -> Many thanks for the help!
  3. OT-> I'm sorry if I sound that I'm stupid or whatsoever earlier. I'm no grease monkey like most you guys (I'm just a beginner), plus its being done at my co-workers place (although he has more knowledge on fixing cars than I do). Were both unaware regarding Subarus, my only sources are either my Haynes manual and USMB. OT-> I apologize for anything to those I offended. I just want to learn all of these stuff, no ones born a master... BT-> I will call the Subaru dealership here in Vegas and (hopefully) the car will be done by tomorrow.
  4. ^ Thanks for the part numbe. But what im looking for is the part size of the bushings.
  5. -> I apologize for not specifying my car. My car is an '89 GL Touring D/R 4WD 5spd manual 1.8L mpfi.
  6. -> I just discovered that my GL needs a new sway bar bushing. -> Then I went to RockAuto, then the confusion starts. On a '89 GL, what size do I belong? According to RockAuto, there is 16mm, 18mm, & 19mm. -> And... ...should I get the whole sway bar link or... (Impreza/WRX shown) ...just the bearing itself? -> Thanks guys!
  7. My GL 'Gladys'-> Two nights ago, I used the whole bottle of engine degreaser and washed the engine bay: BEFORE AFTER ^ Still needs more work, but way better than before. ...more to come...
  8. -> My I.Q. has just ran out. -> I just can't figure it out on how to make those rear shoulder belts useful for adults! Is there a step-by-step guide on how to properly secure any passenger in the back seat? -> Here are the pics of the rear seats of my beloved GL: -> HALP!!!
  9. -> Here's some pics of my baby (before I brought the car home form AZ) for the threads pleasure: (This was 2 nights ago in Las Vegas) ^ Ok, now I'm jealous...
  10. ^ Is there anyway I could get those specific lugnuts? What happend to one eye scared me!
  11. -> ... ^ Ok, get it, got it. Many thanks! By the way, what do you mean covered every month? Dual Range 4WD = Part-Time 4WD ^ Not Full-Time 4WD (Land Cruiser), not AWD (modern Subies) or On-Demand AWD (all CUV's). -> Good thing that the Dual-Range doesn't have manual front lockers that you have to go down to switch it on, that feature was common in the 80's and early '90 (especially in the Philippines). Even the Ford F-250/350/450/550/650 Super Duty has manual front lockers!! -> It has been a while since I've driven a true part-time 4WD vehicle. ^ It's not the linkage, the engagement still feels very solid despite of its age. [EDIT] ^ Ok, got it! -> Once I fix my CV/half-drive situation, tires will be my next fix (unless someone from USMB offers me help regarding my fuel rail). -> Unless if its sharp turn or doing a U-turn; 4WD-Hi is ok. No 4WD on sharp/U-turns.
  12. -> Ok, lesson learned there. Is the Dual Range like a Part-Time 4WD in all hardcore SUV's and Pickup's? -> If yes, When and where should I use the system? Rain (pavement)? Snow? Gravel? Mud? And is the system sensitive that it can break apart easily? -> And what is the correct way to engage/diengage the system?
  13. -> I tried the search feature first, looks like I'm the first to post this. -> This is a thread regarding any questions in regards to the Dual Range 4WD equipped Subies. So anyone who has one, may/can post questions here. So newbies like me will be well-informed. -> So I'll start. Last night, after I did a complete engine and under carriage wash with a degreaser and high pressure wash, after that we went for a little joyride with my newly aquired GL Wagon. -> So I thought that if I try to engage the 4WD-Hi, just to check it out if the system works. I think from the course of the cars life, the system (if rarely) wasn't even been engaged. So I gave a knack and tried it out, it works flawlessly! -> After 3 miles or so, I decided to shift it back to FWD mode. But what happend was very unexpected, it wont go back to FWD!!! So we went in to a Burger King parking lot and we try to figure out what was wrong. We also tried the 4WD-Lo and it worked seemlessly, but it still won't go FWD as if ti was locked at 4WD-Hi. But after almost an hour and removing the spare tire and opening up the shift boot cover on the center console, my friend engaged it back to FWD! -> Although he forgot how he did it, he recalled that he was at neutral, didn't depressed the clutch, but the car rolled backwards and the lever went straight to FWD. Question-> How do I properly engage/disengage the Dual Range 4WD? Since last night, I'm very nervious to use this amazing system again. Please help me!!
  14. ^ Maybe if I ask around regarding the CV joint, I might find it. -> But for now, I got to buy some degreaser, some plastic bags (at home), and wash the engine (tire/engine cleaner mode) after work.
  15. ^ I was so happy when it made it! ^ Ok, thats cool, even here in Vegas too there is not much fanbase for the old Subies only newer ones (Flat4LV). :-\
  16. -> ... ^ It was worth it. The GL passed the ultimate $1K test in my opinion, The cross-interstate long distance drive test. ^ Will I get that at any AutoZone/NAPA/Checker-O'Reiley/Pep Boys? Or should I either look online or one of those import speciality parts store, we have one here in Vegas. ^ Damn thats a bummer...if it gets too hot, I'll just use my other car 'coz it has A/C. ^ So its NGK then, good...I also have to get extra sparks for my S2000. It too nequires NGK's too. -> Less than 98hp does not bother me at all. I used to drive cars that are far weaker: 1992 Toyota LiteAce van (Philippines) - 65hp 1993 Nissan Sentra 1.4 EXSaloon sedan (Philippines) - 78hp 1991 Nissan [Hard Body] Pathfinder Diesel pickup (Philippines) - 58hp 1994 Toyota Corolla 1.3XL and XE sedans (Philippines) - 62hp 1983 Toyota Corolla SR5 "Hatchi-Roku" hatchback (US) - 78hp 1991 Mazda B2000 Diesel pickup (Philippines) - 48hp ^ As long as I have the service manual, tools, parts, beer/food, & friends. I'll be ok. -> Vegas is not as dirty as what you think. Arizona is, and the car spent all of its 2nd owners 10 years on gravel roads. So maybe later, I might replace the shocks too. ^ It's not clicking anymore, its more like 'grinding' like its on a verge of braking up. ^ Man, that is very unfortunate still. But even thou if my GL has A/C, it will be an R12 refrigerant (like the AE86 & even my '92 Integra GS-R) on which particularly does not exist anymore. If there is an R134 kit, I would think twice. ^ Thanks, I think it just need the hose to replace it, plus the section would be small. I will ask the board in the future, but first I must replace the CV-joint. ^ It's good that that teeny-weeny tires are very cost effective. I'll just increase the tire size when I swapped the engine in the future. I might restore those 'caps instead. ^ Oh its as special as my Odyssey (last year of the RA3 body, and the only year that came with the F23 {150hp} engine) and my S2000 (last year without traction control, last year with cable throtte, and first year of the AP2). ^ Thats good its reassuring that way.
  17. -> ... ^ I paid $1,000 from the original price of $1,500. ^ I know, I've seen very few GL's here in Vegas; but never a Touring Wagon. ^ I'll make sure I'll get those NGK sets when I get all the parts for tune up (belts, pumps, etc.), any specific NGK spark do you have in mind? -> I'm aware on the price of the air filter; is the fuel filter expensive? -> Cap and Rotor? You mean the components for the cooling system? -> Sorry for bring stupid here, but whats MAF? ^ When I left this afternoon from AZ. The GL runs fine, my first reaction before was only a preasumption because the car was parked for couple of weeks before I drove it last Saturday. ^ Oh thank goodness!!! (7-11) -> Just did that tonight. -> Just found out last Sunday that a trailer is $59/day and to rent a truck is $20 plus 60¢/mile. So my rent for the truck roundtrip is $20 + $240. ^ So I just ended up driving the GL back to Vegas (a total of 156 mi.). Man the fuel economy of the GL is BONKERS!!!! (in a very good way). -> Right now, the only issue that I'm having right now aside for a very minor fuel leak, is a broken CV half-shaft on the passenger front axle. It only make noise whenever I turn right. And some of the tires are flat-sided, given that the GL hasn't been used since the start of the new year. ^ Hmm, even there are some marks on the dash that says A/C on the dashboard? And how much is it to install A/C? Would you recommend for me to install it or not? -> Yes, along with the battery too. -> Will do if I'm brave enough to drive the GL around town with a broken CV-joint. ^ Many thanks again! ^ Was there a BIG difference compared to a single pulley? -> Thanks! I was almost about to lose the car from another buyer, good thing the seller saw the light within me! LoL! -> Will post more pics soon (the GL is in Vegas)!
  18. -> Hi, I just bought an '89 GL Wagon w/ the bubble-top (aka. the Touring) wagon. I'm no stranger to Subaru's since I used to own a '04 and '06 WRX Wagons. But I'm a completely a newbie when it becomes to an Old-School Subies like the GL. -> Is there any precausions that I must look out in regards to the car, drivetrain, and the highly talked about EA82 engine. I've heard a lot of scary stuff/stories regarding about this engine, and unfortunately I can't afford to do an engine swap (EJ--) for the wagon. -> Here's a briefing about the car (from my threads at GTPlanet.net, TQPI.net, S2Ki.com, Flat4LV.com, & NASIOC.com: GOOD - True 4WD (has FWD, 4WD-Hi, & 4WD-Lo) - Fuel Injected - Rare bubble-top spec - Engine runs good (has that distinctive Boxer rumble) - No body damage (some trimmings are loose) - Other than the dust-n-dirt the interior is flawless (except on the door panels) - Only had two owners (10 years each) - Used to owned by Joe Pesci (as the 1st owner) - Clean title - Owner states that car has no A/C, but I found out IT DID!!! - 100% stock BAD - Car is located in Yucca, AZ by I-40 (2.5 hr drive from Vegas) - A minor fuel rail leak - 211K miles - Paint and door panels are faded due to high temperature - Uncertain if the car had a tuneup - Current owner states that it needs a fuel pressure regulator, but the car ran normally when I test drove it - Not much people know about the car - Needs to be towed (distance, fuel leak) - Since the car has sat on idle for a long time, the car rides a little rough at first - Sometimes/rarely hesitates to go 2nd gear (been in idle for so long) -> Here are some of the pics: -> Again, thanks for the welcome!
