Now that you mention the knock sensor... That was next on my to do list with my happy little ej22. And now, I'm scared. -

I think Mike was referring to the car he saw, my 2.5 GT... my problem child. However, both pictures were very helpful, because now I know where it is on my 2.5, too, which is the next engine to get the new sensor funny thing about the bolt is I saw that stupid thing, and I thought "I'll just go ahead and remove that. Lemme get my tools out of my wife's car [the 2.5 I'm working on]. Oh no... where's the key?!" Yeah. She had it with her. At work. Heh, so I got all that way, FINALLY found the sensor... yup. Had to put it back together. Oh well. You guys have helped so much, so it shouldn't be a problem now. Thanks again. -

I found them!!! FINALLY!!! I can't, however, seem to get around the wiring harness. I don't want to work around it, as I'm afraid I may break it. I'll probably try to move the metal thing it's on sometime later tonight. -

All is well. I'm actually about to go out there right now to take the intake off and poke around... the picture will be 100% helpful, I'm sure of it. So no worries... there's no way I'd take the manifold off, anyway :-) -

Hah, thanks man. I knew what you meant. -
I LIKE THIS!!!! The idea behind this is so that I can do it all at the flip of a switch. I don't want to have to bend over to remove a fuse, then take a bulb out every time I want it off.

Doesn't surprise me too much. I have a '96 Legacy GT. I kid you not when I say the computer wasn't even remotely close to being right when it came to my calipers. It's definitely a '96, yet the calipers that fit my car were in the computer as coming from a '98. I went through 4 different calipers before they got it right. It annoyed me so much, because they'd come in, I'd look at them, and nope! they were wrong!!! Sorry... /rant.

wow... ok, well that explains a whole lot. It really is hidden pretty well. I'll go check it out here in a bit and let you know what I find. Thanks a lot!!!! -
Alright, my ECTS is in need of replacement. While I'm at it, I'd like to replace the sender as well. I've searched for good photos on here, and I only found one photo that really didn't give me any reference. I have an ej22. I've sat there and stared at the engine, in all different directions, angles, and sides I could think of... I can't find the stupid thing. I'm more concerned about the ECTS. Can anyone out there please post a photo with a sight reference as to where it is? If you do, I will forever grateful.

Yeah, I'm only doing the switch because I want to not have that annoying nag light on. Also, if I do decide at some point, for whatever unknown reason, that I want to have ABS... I just flip the switch. Easy enough.

Simply put, I absolutely HATE anti lock brakes. With a passion. They've gotten me into more hairy situations than they've come close to saving me from. I learned to drive strictly without them, and I much prefer not having them at all. I'm fully aware of what they do and that they can offer better safety, but it's just not for me. So, with that said- I'm thinking of bypassing my ABS system with a simple killswitch. I'm able to do it, I just want to know if I'll run into any other issues with the brakes. Has anyone else done this?

Any ideas on how much it will be to have the heads done at a machine shop? -

Would I be able to get away with JUST the hg's for now, or would I need some other gaskets? -

The timing belt and water pump were recently replaced... I'd like to just change a few gaskets, but not so much the entire part. Now I'm just worried about block warpage. Any ideas on how much it would be to have a machine shop redo one if it is warped? -

Yeah, that link is what gave me the idea to do it myself. I will have some extended down time here shortly, and if the weather forecasts are correct, it should start warming up here soon. But are the new OEM head gaskets better now? I'm quite reluctant to buy OEM if that's what seem to be the problem in the first place. -
I actually have not done that yet. I had thought about the heater core, as well, but I just have a really hard time pulling the trigger on a diagnostic test to tell me I have to pay more money. I'd also have to find someone in this direct area that's able to do it; I don't want to drive it to Florence. That would be a bit too rough on it right now. And even if it's not the HG right now, that's going to be my next step. Here in a couple weeks, I'm going to have a LOT of time on my hands. I figure if I can find a garage to work in, I can do it myself.

Did you replace the head bolts? Also, should I bother buying the entire head gasket kit, or just get the head gaskets and leave the rest for much later? -

I've actually never messed with head gaskets before, but from what I've been reading on this board, it seems like it's a doable repair. I am, however, kind of worried about the head bolts. I've been reading half the people on here buying new ones, as they claim they're TTY, and the other half says they're NOT TTY, and I'm not really sure what to believe. -
If I decide to take on the task of replacing the hg myself on my phase 1 ej25, how much difficulty am i looking at here? it seems pretty basic and straight forward. is it something i could do in the street, even? because that's all i've got in terms of a garage. Also, how much would one be looking at for parts? And if I go oem on the gaskets, will I be replacing them again in two years?
