  1. Ok, so I'm interested in getting a block warmer. My first question is if they even exist for a 95 Legacy and my second is- Where do they plug in on the engine??
  2. Ok, time for an update- The relay seems to be fine. I can hear it click when I turn the knob and the compressor kicks on as well. So I guess it must be the resistor block. I don't have a multimeter, so does anyone have a solid picture of where this thing is? If so, I'll just grab one out of the junk yard and slap it in.
  3. I don't suppose anyone has the part number for the relay for a '95 on hand, do they?
  4. Oh wow, ok. I did see a small portion of that while looking around, but it's far more buried in my car. THANK YOU for the picture. BIG TIME. Also- it's interesting to see you're rocking the rubber-less clutch pedal as well.
  5. Ok, guys... I looked all over the place and was unable to locate anything that looked like it could be the relay for the blower. I found light relays a and so on, but I just couldn't find anything else. Can someone PLEASE help me?? It's 100 degrees here now and I'm dying :-(
  6. Thanks for the replies. I hope it's the relay, as I really don't want to have to ever mess with the blower motor again... that thing was a royal pain. When I turn the knob I hear clicks at the A/C compressor, so that tells me it's at least getting that far. Like I said, for a long time I could just wiggle random wires under the dash and get it going again, but I think it just kicked the bucket last night. The wires I moved around are also located in the exact area that the relay was described as being in, so I'm probably going to look at that first. It'll probably be a few days at the very earliest, but I'll keep you all updated. Thanks again!!!
  7. '95 Legacy Outback The blower for my car seems to go on and off when it wants. One second it will be working fine, the next it doesn't work at all. The blower motor itself is brand new, and I know that's not the problem. At first, I was able to just wiggle some random wires under the dash and have it come back on, but that doesn't seem to work anymore. Anyone have any ideas?
  8. While I may not be the person giving the technical advice, I would like to say that there is no need to single yourself out as a "stupid girl", or for that matter, even a "girl"... Subaru owners come in all shapes, sizes, colors, makes, etc... You've asked good questions so far, so don't worry about coming across as stupid, either.
  9. Well, I guess I'll have to figure this out. I could have bet money that it had HID lights on it, but I know HE didn't put them on, and I doubt the dealer would have put them on for giggles. It's just very strange to me, because it gives off a very HID type light. I've seen projector lights give GOOD light, but never like this. I'll update later tonight. If they do end up being halogen, what's the main cause of problems that makes the same bulb burn out?
  10. He definitely does have HID lights. This I can assure you. It, too, was purchased brand new off the lot. I have noticed that this in the ONLY Subaru of its kind that I've ever seen with HID lights on it.
  11. Hi there! First, welcome to USMB- the ultimate source of answers to any Subaru related question you may have. Second, I am just now finding out about this issue myself, so I'm not sure exactly how much help I can personally be, but it seems like our cars have issues with the filler tube forming holes. Was the filler tube you recently had put on used? And if it's of any help to you, I also have a thread going right now that is somewhat related to this same topic. The link is- http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?p=1017754#post1017754 Let us know!
  12. Thanks, man! I'll give this a go on Saturday when I have the time to poke around. Until I asked, I was unaware that this was even an issue. I guess it looks like I will be messing with my car as well, since I don't want this to be an issue for me. I guess the "shield" causes more problems than it prevents?
  13. OK, so I'm actually posting this for a friend, but he's a fellow Subaru owner, so I hope I can get some help with this. He bought a 2005 Outback XT brand new off the lot, and so far, he's gone through some headlight issues. I've read that most cars of the Legacy family have this issue, but here's my snag- His car has HID headlights, and all the issues I've read about with headlights going out are halogen. ALL of the searches I've conducted online have only yielded results for halogen bulbs, and I can't find a single thing about HID. So the questions are- 1. Is it a common issue on these cars for the same headlight to keep burning out if it isn't halogen? 2. WHERE can we find a place to even buy a replacement? 3. Is there anything that can be done to hopefully eliminate this problem?
  14. Haha, yeah, I may want to wear a helmet while testing this. I think when it finally stops raining and being cold, I'll rip the quarter panel off and take a look. Is it best to just take the plastic shield off altogether?
  15. Yeah, I think I may just go with the wires from the stealer-ship. And if they end up being bad, I can beat them with the wires unmercifully until they replace them.
  16. Oh my word... I'm lost now. When it comes to Subaru, I thought everything was supposed to be OEM. Now I'm confused :-(
  17. To be honest, after one good whiff of gas, I may pass out. This may take a bit to pinpoint. My sense of smell is very strong and I smell gas when no one else does. Is there any way to find any trouble areas that may be more apt to develop this problem than others... that is, before the filler tube? Her exhaust IS EXTREMELY loud, but that's just because her bend pipes have some small holes in them. However, before the holes, there was this smell. The smell is nothing new, but it does seem to be getting worse while everything else stays the same. And as far as any work being done, there hasn't been anything.
  18. It the tube is cracked, wouldn't it spill gas when filling up? I don't think we've ever had that happen.
  19. Is this the same thing we're talking about? http://www.subaruforester.org/vbulletin/f88/steps-replace-fuel-filler-neck-48016/
  20. Yes, she fills it up often. Where is this part located and how can I tell if it's bad?
  21. My wife's car is a '95 Legacy L, automatic, FWD, ~220,000 miles. Runs quite well, no engines problems that I know of, nice and clean, and no CEL. However, when driving the car, there is a pretty strong smell of gas. Sometimes it's pretty overwhelming. When I was changing the oil the other day, I decided to poke around and check for anything that seemed like it could be leaking fuel and I didn't find anything. Has anyone else had this problem or does anyone know what it could possibly be?
  22. And now I'm wondering, Quidam... would you be able to use your discount-finding ways to get a good price on a set of OEM plug wires???
  23. If I would have known they were going to jack the price up so much I probably would have ordered two of them!
