  1. Thanks. They sent me a 9350. I will have to get a hold of them.
  2. I recently purchased a NGK spark plug wire set for my EA-81 and the coil wire is too short. I ordered it for the GL which is what I thought my car was. Does anyone have the correct number. It is an 1984 and the registration says GL but it could be wrong I guess. How could I go about verifying this? Thanks
  3. Thanks for the responses. It is pretty much a constant noise but it seems more noticeable at lower speed (25 mph). I will be pulling all four wheels off this coming weekend and taking a look at everything. I will go ahead and make sure that the castle nuts are torqued to 125 and that there is nothing rubbing. If it doesn't go away would it most likely be the bearings? If so how hard are they to replace?
  4. Alright. Thanks for the suggestion. Should I replace both of the filters and if so where is the best place to buy them from. I went to NAPA and they said their system was showing tons of different filter options.
  5. I just got finished with rebuilding my EA-81 and was running it some and noticed that there is a light squeeking noise coming from the front driver side wheel. Would this the the CV joint or wheel bearings? Thanks for the advice.
  6. I just got finished putting the engine back into my 84 GL and noticed that when it is running I hear a soft humming noise coming from around the passenger side of the rear seat. Is this the fuel pump and if so is it possibly beginning to go out? It is not really that bad but definetely noticeable. Thanks for the advice.
  7. I am in the process of re-installing my EA-81 and ended up with two connections that I am not sure of. I have included pics if anyone can give some advice. One of them is a cable that looks like it should go to a throttle control or something. It is located on the drive side of the engine compartment by the AC compressor. The other is a hose that is coming of off the device in the pic. Thanks for the help
  8. I am in the process of putting my EA-81 back together and had a few questions. First Question - When I put the intake manifold back on should I use some Red Permatex on the head side if the surface is somewhat scored? What should I torque the bolts to? Second Question - I pulled the pressure plate off of the clutch disc and forgot to mark it. Is it important how I put it back on? If so how is the best way to replace it. Thanks a lot.
  9. I was torqueing the heads on my EA81 when I pulled the threads out of the last stud. My question is do I need to replace the head gasket since I had about 42 lbs. of torque on it or should it be fine to use once I get the stud fixed. Thanks
  10. I was in the process of torqueing the heads on my EA81 when one of the studs started to pull a thread.... I searched previous threads but was unable to find the information I am looking for. My question is what size is this stud? Also is it possible to use a heli-coil with success? Lastly when I go to re-install the stud should I use loc-tite? If anyone has any information it would be really appreciated. Thanks
  11. I am having some serious issues removing the old intake manifold gaskets on my EA-81. Does anyone have any advice on how to remove them without messing up the seating surface of the intake manifold. They are both stuck on the intake manifold. Thanks.
  12. I have been having a really hard time finding a new radiator for my EA81. Has anyone had success finding a radiator and if so where did you end up buying it? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
  13. I am in the process of putting the heads back on my EA-81 and was wondering what size bolt those are? I am wanting to run a die nut over them and clean up the threads. Thanks.
  14. I have searched all over for the proper torque for the cylinder heads on an EA-81 and was not able to find it. I did however find a post about torqueing the heads in three steps is that recommended? I also found something about needing a special 17mm socket for the middle nut is that something I can make or need to purchase? Lastly, Do I torque the rocker arm bolts that hold the heads to the same torque as the heads? Thanks a lot.
  15. I am in the process of rebuilding my EA-81 and wanted to know if you guys would suggest putting these gaskets on dry or using some sort of RTV sealant. -Oil Pan -Valve Cover -Intake manifold Thanks
  16. I pulled the EA-81 out of my 83 GL to pull/rebuild the heads and a few other things and wanted to know what gaskets you guys thought I should go ahead and change out when the engine is out. This is what I plan on replacing so far. -Head Gaskets (Perma-torque) -Intake (OEM) -Valve Cover Gaskets (OEM) -Oil Pan (OEM) -Rear Main (OEM) -Exhaust Manifold Gaskets (OEM) Let me know if you guys think I am missing anything. Thanks
  17. I was wondering if I would need to use a high temp paint for the valve covers/oil pan on a EA81 or would just any metal paint work? Thanks
  18. ALright. I will look for the holes you mentioned.
  19. I recently pulled the EA81 out of my 84 GL and in order to mount the engine to the stand I needed to pull off the pressure plate. After pulling it off I realized that I had not marked its current placement and was wondering if that is a big deal when reassembling. The manual I am using says to mark it using a paint pen. Any imput would be appreciated. Thanks
  20. I just pulled my EA81 out and am wanting to mount it to my engine stand. My question is should I bolt to to the bellhousing or is there a better place? Sorry for my ignorance but this is a first for me. Thanks
