I am in the process of removing the heads on my 84 GL and in the manual it recommends to remove the engine mounting bolts and jack up the engine under the oil pan. What would be the reasoning for this? I am pulling the heads off with the engine still in the car. This is a first for me. Thanks.

Thanks. That was what I was thinking but just wanted to make sure. Like I said I have not removed the heads on this motor.

I am in the process of removing the cylinder heads on my 84 GL and was wondering if I should cover the tops of the cylinders with anything once I get the heads removed or if they would be ok. The engine is still in the car in my garage. I know this might be a pretty straight forward question but just don't want to run into any issues once they are replaced.

I am looking to completely rebuild a EA81 and am looking for a rebuild manual if such a thing even exists. I have worked some on other engines but would like something that gives me specs/tolerences etc. Please advise if there is such a thing and if so where I would be able to purchase it. If not what was helpful to people that have rebuilt one in the past. Thanks
