  1. Yeah, I actually found some six lug toyota wheels that are really nice for $60. I'm worried they may be offset quite a bit, but I figure 3 inches more width will be ok with fender flares.
  2. Haha! Nice!!! Mad Max style!
  3. hey, I'm getting a 4 inch lift on my 83 brat ea 81. I am going to get the six lug conversion for 15' wheels, but I don't want my tires to rub the wheel well. I want to have a nice tight fit with the tires. How much does the rim need to be offset? and what are the biggest tires that will fit well? Thanks, I'm not really in a spot as far as parts or money goes to let me experiment... that's where ya'll come in!
  4. That's awesome. I was looking for a different housing for my carb. Is that the stock carb or a weber carb? I've been wanting to get a different air filter housing for my brat because the stock one is so shallow and has a very small air inlet. I didn't want to buy a k&n filter if I didn't think the housing would let enough air in for it to make a difference. Even without the snorkel that would act like a cold air intake just with the different housing. Great post!
  5. Hey, I saw in a post that you are able AND willing to redrill rims for the six lug wheels :) I live in Moscow ID, but I would be glad to drive up, buy beer, burgers, and any drill bits needed if you'd be willing to help!

  6. I just upped my gas mileage a ton. I'm not sure what it was before, but I got new 2 inch Y pipes from the headers to a 2 inch high flow cat, and ran that 2' piping through a later model subaru muffler. It's made a huuuuuge difference in performance and mileage. I would really recommend it. the stock cat and pipes were very restrictive.
  7. yeah, I'm going to see if I can buy some rims that are offset enough to give me the full steering without rubbing. I know summit racing has a metric assload of different rims. I would most likely get the rims offset wide a bit, then tastfully put some black fender flares on it. I don't want huge ones, but I also don't want my tires sticking out too much...
  8. Hahaha! Yeah, It's not perfect, but the body is completely straight, and the engine is barely broken in. There is some rust, but I'm taking care of it now. I'm going to make it look close to stock minus bigger wheels and tires.
  9. ok good! I scheduled it to get done, but I wanted to make sure I wasn't making a mistake by doing it before the lift. Thanks a ton. I was getting a little worried.
  10. I'm getting a new exhaust from the headers back, but I'm going to get a 4 inch lift later. Will the lift mess up the exhaust where it attaches to the body?
  11. yeah, the only "problem" is that my engine only has 18,000 miles on it...so I really don't need to do anything to it besides easy mods. I'm getting a whole new exhaust system from the headers back. I'm going to run it through a high performance cat and muffler. I'm going with a fiberglass filled muffler so it isn't too loud. (I do a lot of highway driving) Is the stock camshaft that bad? I know I want to get a performance carb for it, any recommendations?
  12. Yeah, that sounds like a good plan. How much for those cams?
  13. Haha! 5 hp is more than I would have expected. I was actually thinking about maybe using a shop-vac top assembly because it would have more "push" than a leaf blower that has to wind up pretty high, and has a super high volume at low pressure compared to the vac's lower volume and higher pressure. I'm just trying to think of a way to fill that spare tire spot because I'm going to get bigger wheels and tires that won't fit that spare anyway...
