New carb?  Used carb?  Did you replace the fuel filter at the same time?

Sounds like the accelerator pump isn't doing it's job.

The accelerator pump was exactly the problem. I had put in a new diaphragm right before the fuel pump went out last summer and entirely forgot to put the spring back in. It has been over a year sense last I worked on this thing so I far entirely forgotten. Thanks allot for the help she is running great now

  2. So my brat has an oil pressure problem going on. when ever it is in gear the oil pressure gauge tops out. I am pretty sure it has blown some of the gaskets because there is oil all over the bottom of the engine. I am just looking for someone in the moscow pullman lewiston areas that could rebuild it for me, I would love to be able to help and learn as well. I would try to do it my self but I am moving in to an apartment that wont allow me to work on my vehicles in the parking area. Please contact me with your rates and we can work something out. I would really appreciate the help since i relay on the vehicle to get around while my wife has the car. my email is jeremy_lee_miller@yahoo.com. I will be getting a cell phone soon so I will post the number when I get it.

  3. i like it, i like almost anything you can do with these vehicles rather it be make them showroom stock all the ways to lifting the crap out of them or lowering them, everyone has their own likes and dislikes.

  4. I have found that i like almost every car subaru makes, I used to own a 93 legacy which i sold for my Brat, my brother has owned a few ea 82 wagons and an ea81 wagon, but this will be my first experiance with anything older than the second gens. I go down to California to get it this june, i will have to post op some pics of it when i get it, it is almost entirely rust free. anyways, good luck with your project, i can not wait to see what you do with your Brat, looks good so far, i like what you did with blacking out the lights.

  5. great ideas, I am thinking on going the enamel and and bed armor route. I am in the process of removing the old paint and fixing all the rust with Ospho rust converter. then I will be painting. I am also fixing all the rust I can get to on the inside of the bed panels. I am planning this to be as rust proof as it can be.
