  1. I just replaced mine with a used one. One side broke, and was stiff as heck. They should just slide out, some are tighter than others in my experience. Also make sure the lock bolt is loose/removed. Try heat and tapping on it to break it loose maybe? And from my exp/knowledge they can be clocked either way, but if I remember right lowering is limited vs raising.? Good luck.

  2. I've been going out there for the last ten years, I know the place well. There can be some bad deep holes, guys with BIG trucks making ruts... For the most part I'm not into water and sand, but it's whats available locally... Hill climbs can test the soobs limits and at the least give us as drivers a big of a challenge. I climb and slide 12 ton machines up n down ski slopes do it takes more for me to get worked up, as opposed to some people. Anyways should be fun. It's a family deal so please be courteous, it's all in fun. And yes stock GL will be fine just be smart.

  4. Hey all, I got a line on a 1983 brat I'm going to go look at on Friday. I know the normal suspect areas for rust, fender wells, rocker panels, under seats. I believe up around the strut tops too.

I've been told it is in pretty dang good shape, but the motor has problems (don't run). But I expect something halfway simple. Asking 1200. I will take pics and post afterwards.

What do you look for when looking to but a subaru?

Thanks. Any input here is appreciated.

  5. I have a couple options here, I just bought new tires and had them mounted on some after market alloy rims from a Toyota Tacoma. Tire size is 235x75x15s and the tire store said they don't fit... I was running 28" swampers that rubbed very little, and previously had had 235x75x15s on stock Toyota rims with very little rubbing... So is the new alloy rim making the tires rub since the off set is different? So should I just put the new tires on other rims and hope they don't rub or keep rims and tires and get out the BFH and grinder or?? Any ideas are appreciated. Thanks

  6. Change back to stock axles and shocks and build yourself some new shock mounts, from the top mounting location, the new mounts should be same height as rest of your lift. You will have to match those mounts to the diff drop height, however your doing that... Keeping all stock components there really is best! Happy wrenching!

  7. Stud puller, goes on the end of a ratchet. Deprnding on what way you turn it loosens or tightens the studs with very minor markings.

Thats whats missing, the studs, and no cam gear on the camshaft.

  8. Yeah true that Uberoo, thanks to the Hatch Patrol! I remember the first time i met Bob, he pulled up at a gas station across from my stock '84 hatch in his '82 hatch with a 6" lift, camo paint and the hatch cut off it. Alot of my experience goes to him! Also learned that day we were neighbors.., good guy.

  9. So weekend was good, didnt break anything on either rig! I did blow out my exhaust gaskets... Its loud and sounds bad... New ones today going on. Missed driving it, had another guy on the trail in a full size blazer with 36" mudders and motor/headers (it was nice), tell me nice car... LOL!

Hey Mikal- i have some parts laying around, not being used... Some of which i believe your looking for, willing to let go cheap! PM me.
