  1. RE:

screw cover caps for the screw in the front door interior handle recess

You stated that you found or knew the part number,

Do you still have that part number?

  2. Turns out this thing has a part number all to itself. Costs a couple of bucks, my peace of mind is worth that. Thanks, though.
  3. I know this is really petty and ridiculous, but I'm missing one of the screw cover caps for the screw in the front door interior handle recess. I used to have a vintage Chrysler and I got all obsessive about OEM parts, including every little interior screw and switch, and I think this stems from that, but this is just the kind of little detail that gets my tight rump roast in a bunch, and I have to look at it every time I get in the car. The junkyards are inconveniently far and I have a feeling a dealer would make me buy the whole door panel. Anyone have this smallest of interior trim parts laying around in their spare parts pile, could find it in their hearts, in this season of giving, or could direct me to a source, I'd be mucho obligado.
  4. Somehow I can't quite picture someone hotwiring a forester...maybe I'm stereotyping car theives. I used to leave my EA82 wagon unlocked with the windows down. I figured if anyone stole it I could just run after them & catch up. No one ever tried. Another question I have is since I have power locks (controlled by door panel buttons only) and an override button, does this mean I have keyless entry and an alarm? If I get an ebay remote with "free programming".....would I be set up?
  5. Found it. It was very hard to see because the plastic collar was not on it.
  6. Sorry to repost, but I typed the last one in such a hurry that I guess I scared off replies. I disconnected the battery, reconnected it and now I have flashing parking lights. There apparently is no override button under the dash, and I don't have the remote. Can anyone help me reset this? What color wires is the button connected to and where do those wires go? Maybe the previous owner extracted it and I can simulate the buttons action by connecting or disconnecting a wire. Any help appreciated, OL
  7. Hey all, I dicsonnected the battery to clean and now the security (parking) lights are flashing and the relay is clicking and all, but I CAN'T FIND THE SECURITY OVERRIDE / PROGRAM BUTTON under the dash! We bought this car used and we never were given a remote (damn infiniti dealers!) and never used an alarm with this car.... Is there a connector I can disconnect from the relay to reset this? Suggestions Appreciated, OL This is on a 99 forester
  8. Hi, I noticed a bunch of posts related to hesitation & stalling and I have been having a hesitation problem with my 87 GL (non turbo FI) also, despite checking vaccuums & top fuel filter. Some guy I met told me he had great success solving the problem by "cleaning out" the "rear fuel filter". I didn't know the guy & we didn't chat long, but this got me thinking and I checked out underneath my own car. There is a filter-like unit in the fuel line, shortly after the tank, that looks like it has the sending unit attached to it. Does anyone know if this is the "rear fuel filter" and what is the procedure for cleaning it out? Many thanks, leaker
  9. Hi everyone, I'm brand new to the community, but I wish I knew about it 6 years ago when I got my 87 gl wagon, I probably would've saved enough money to have a newer Sub now. The latest is it didn't pass smog (CA) but that's no suprise. What's odd is they told me my thermostatic air cleaner was missing, and it won't pass without it (of course, they couldn't tell me BEFORE the test) Can someone direct me to where this should be, or better yet a diagram? It passed 2 years ago and I don't remember anything falling off since, except a hubcap. Thanks in advance, and it's a pleasure to be in your company. Me: 1987 GL wagon 4x4 1.8 non-turbo 5sp. Wife: 1999 Forester L
