  1. well honestly, as simple as this car is to keep running and as good of transportation as it has been for so cheap, I'll go with B. the 300k answer. And my assumption is that the oil must be lost past the rings, cuz there are no leaks of any sort. However, it doesn't smoke a bit either. Hasn't been run hot to my knowledge, but then again, It had a life unknown to me in it's "early years".
  2. I have a ej22 with about 275k on it. It uses a little bit of oil (on the order of 1 qt/600-700 miles). My waterpump just went out and I know it hasn't had a timing belt in way too long, so it's time to do that as well. My question is....Do I go ahead and do the necessary repair on this motor since I have some knowledge of its history (had it for about 100k now), or do I round up a lower mileage motor to swap out and throw a new timing belt in it? If swap, where does a guy find a good ej22?
  3. Where does one come up with said engines? and what kinda warranty? So, that being said, does it make sense to do much at all to these engines other than maintenance items..plugs, timing belt?? I guess I'm just leery about buyin used engines cuz I don't have a clue of their history, although it's worth gambling for $450.
  4. I have a fwd 93 legacy that has about 250k on it. It runs quite well, and I try and keep up reasonably well with maintenance. I have a couple questions and I'm sure some of you gurus can point me in the right direction. 1. It uses a bit of oil. On the order of 1qt per 500-1000 miles. It runs pretty well though, doesn't smoke, and has no apparent leaks. Does this warrant any work? ie rings? seals? Quite frankly, the car has been so good that if I need to do some work to it to get another 200k out of it, I would definitely do that, especially given the fact that it averages around 33 mpg. 2. Steering wheel vibration on braking. I have replaced rotors and pads recently so that is not it. Can it possibly need some bushings. Before I do anything I'm gonna get some new tires, as I know the snow tires on it are shot. I have had it aligned not too long ago as well. What stuff gets loose over time with these cars? I appreciate any input guys (or gals). Chad
  5. bheinen74 thanks. You answered my question. I do not want to turn this into a project car. It has been such reliable transportation that I simply do want to get a new fangled car that will cost me more dollars than are in my possession or WILL BE in my possession for a while. Great forum. Thanks a bunch guys.
  6. I have a 94 legacy L with a tired 2.2 in it. I have a couple options I guess. 1. Rebuild the current motor. or... 2. I found a 2000 2.2 with very low miles for very very reasonable. BUT....how feasible is this swap? Electronic configuration changes is what concerns me the most. Let me know what the scivvy is. Thanks
