    Buggy

Wow i havent been on here in a while and was starting to plan out a build like this last week with a legacy or impereza as the donor. I was going to remove the whole rear cross member, struts, and diff as one. Then do the same thing to the front end with the engine, trans, cross member and struts. Then weld up a buggy frame like you have between the front and rear cross member
  4. well i got it split last night and it all looks good so far on the inside of the block. im going to get the rods off the crank tonight and ill try and make it out and drop it off to you this evening
  5. Ya we can do that welding whenever
  6. Rick im going to be tearing the engine down tonight. i think ill take you up on your offer to take the block to your guy and have the machining and parts ordered by him and ill assemble it all myself . ill try and make it out and drop it off to you tomorrow if you'll be around
  7. i must have hit it lose on something and it vibrated out when i was driving in town later that night. it melted bearings to the crank and rods and snapped a rod in half which took a chunk of cylinder with it
  8. ya im going to try sometime next week if i can get the motor back in time to get the D/R atleast test fitted so i can mount it when i have the extra cash to extend my driveline. ill be pushing it to try and get the car ready with atleast outback struts for the browns camp trip and i need really big wheel spacers cause my new tires hit the strut
  9. ya i dont know if it was me hitting something that knocked the plug lose or the fact i didnt have a new crush washer but either way ive learned my lesson. New oem crush washer every time and check the plug after i go wheeling till i get a skid plate made. But on a good note i got a new engine last night and im going to tear it apart tonight and get it off to the machine shop tomorrow
  10. Got a new engine yesterday thanks to Rick. Im starting to run out of room in my garage with so many parts building up. I think its time to see if i can store my fiero at my grandparents and free up the other side of my garage since its just sitting at the moment and get another work bench set up. Im going to get the engine torn apart after work today and get it off to the machine shop tomorrow im hoping
  11. Well im in the market for a ej25 short block now. When my oil ran out it melted a bearing and snapped a rod and the broken rod destroyed the cylinder http://sphotos.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash4/s320x320/421640_330878883624652_100001076300962_970757_628100182_n.jpg http://sphotos.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash4/s320x320/426940_330810686964805_100001076300962_970660_1800728840_n.jpg
  12. I will be now. I think I hit it lose on something when I was running some trails yesterday
  13. Well after all of this prep to do the lift my oil plug has to go and fall out last night. Now i get to spend my tax money rebuilding this engine
  14. Ok that's easy enough. I think I might go pick it up next week only going to cost $150 so that's cheaper than getting a cat back made at a shop
  15. I need to find some rear outback struts with springs close to Portland
  16. Sorry I should have been clearer i was only going to use the cat back section of the exhaust
  17. It's not a stock 2.2 I have a frankenstein engine and I really think with having an 11:1 CR it would benefit from a slightly larger exhaust. Plus I would like to change the sound a bit
  18. will stock wrx or sti exhaust flow better and fit on my 91 leggo
  19. well would it be worth the effort as far as improving offroad capability's if i wanted to invest the time or should i just stick to the welded rear and call it a day. If you can help me fix my ticking that would be great. I still have yet to take any of my cars to a shop for anything but an alignment and tires and would love to keep the $170 in my pocket then pay it to them. Are you free this week or weekend at all. If you can help me get rid of the ticking ill pay you or buy drinks or food what ever. i dont like asking for free help but i also like to save money over a shops prices
  20. Idk im taking it to PRE next thursday and there going to see what they can do about getting it to quite down. What is your guys opinion on a welded center diff. Im welding the rear diff already and was thinking about welding the center diff as well and making the driveline easy to disconnect so i can drive around in front wheel drive in town and then hook up the driveline for 4x4 when i hit the trail
  21. If someone could i would love some help adjusting my lifters. They have been ticking since i put my engine in and would really like to get rid of the noise and save my new cam from getting ruined
  22. Thats the route im going now after doing more research. Im doing OB struts with a 6" body lift and 30" or 31" tires depending on price and availablity. After this weekend the only thing ill still have to order is a lift sometime middle of next week when i get the money together. The goal is to have the car done except for bumpers and lights in the next 2-3 weeks
  23. ya i really like that front bumper you have on there. the only thing im going to really change is adding a skid plate and making one of the tubes an air tank on the front and rear. the first pic is kinda how im going to style the rear bumper. do you have a ea82 fly wheel laying around i could buy from you at the same time as the D/R and rear diff
  24. So would i be better off just going with OB struts and springs. I was leaning towards the forester route just for the stiffer spring rate so my car doesnt squat as much if i load it up with gear for camping/work. But if it takes alot more work to make them fit ill just go with OB for a quicker simpler install. When i get front wheel drive impreza axles for my D/R swap will i need manual or auto axles or is there even a difference between them. This car is finally going somewhere now that my taxes are only 9 days away. The next thing i need to figure out is who to get my lift from. Ive been leaning towards the SJR route because of all the great things ive heard about there products but i have a hard time spending $900 on the lift. I would like to find something in the $600-700 range if possible but if not ill go with the known good product. In the next month we should be getting a tube bender in my grandpas shop and im going to make custom bumpers looking similar to these for my car and might produce a couple sets if people are interested after i make the first set for my car. They will have a receiver in the front and rear bumpers and they will be sealed so i can fill them with compressed air for airing tires up out on the trail https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/_vV3XhlpDEVQ/TUMaTYF2wNI/AAAAAAAAPDY/W9ZbfwGUMQo/P1010484.JPG http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx32/obk25xt/subaru/IMG_1335.jpg
