  1. Will 2001 forested struts fit my 91 leggo
  2. its not you guys im waiting on its funds on my end it will be 2-3 weeks before i can get my money together for the adapter clutch and getting my drive line extended
  3. Getting the D/R this weekend(GREAT) having to wait a couple more weeks to get adapter plate(SUCKS).Getting my 215/75/15's mounted today and seeing if i can squeeze them in before i put any sort of lift on Whos got some forester struts and springs in the $200-250 range or less for all 4
  4. Well after much back and forth with myself over the best way to get this project going i think im just going to pick up some forester struts and springs for the time being and put my 215/75/15's on i just got given to me for free. Then in a month or two down the road ill do a 6" SJR lift with a D/R since im having trouble finding a D/R at the moment. Anyone have a good used clutch and pressure plate for the stock 5MT in my legacy i need something to get me by till i can get my D/R. The clutch i have is starting to slip with my stock size tires im nervous to try with bigger tires on that clutch but i might
  5. Im trying not to do any trimming and im lifting it for ground clearance to avoid getting high centered more than just to put larger tires on. Im making this into a all around trail rig with custom bumpers rock sliders and roof rack with lights all the way around. Would it be possible to get custom gears cut for the low range in the D/R to make it true low range and not just slightly lower than high range. i know i could just get a transfer case from another rig but i would like to keep it all subaru and do something unique
  6. I was thinking about running 31's but im going back and forth with myself over doing 6" or 8" of lift and maybe just run a 29-30" tire. Does anyone know how to get a hold of obk25xt. I was supposed to be getting a D/R from him but havent gotten a PM back from him in a while
  7. if you have no other choice and you drive it easy yes you can get away with it but the general rule with that high of a CR or if running a turbo you want to run plus or premium depending on how high of a CR you have. I figure anything over 10:1 run plus, once you start getting towards 11:1 you want premium.
  8. Well i know its over a 11:1 CR and anything that high you want to run premium or your taking chances. Im not saying you cant run regular but for longer life of the engine i would run premium so you dont take a chance on getting pre-detonation and blowing a hole in a piston. When your knock sensor helps all its doing is retarding your timing to try and avoid pre-det and you lose power when it has to do that. Just my 2 cents
  9. Yep just swap everything from the ej22 onto the ej25 block with ej25 headgaskets and your good to go. I just got done putting one of these into my 91 legacy just over a month ago and i love it. I put delta torque cams on it and i have tons of bottom end power compared to before. Just make sure you run premium with as high of a CR as these engines have or you take a chance blowing up the engine

  11. Ok so i just got my new Frankenstein engine in the car a little while back and now with taxes finally on the way i can start thinking about getting my lift and D/R. Lets start with the D/R 5MT: What has to be done with the drive line to make it bolt up to the new D/R What are the best front axles to go with What do i need to do to get everything hooked up between the inside of the car and the D/R (shifter and high/low shifter) 8" SJR lift: Where do i get longer brake lines and what length should i get What does it take to lengthen the steering shaft Will i have to adjust the length of the drive line with the lift as well as the D/R (should i do both at the same time to make life easier) Feel free to add anything else i might be missing that will help make it all go together faster and smoother As she sits right now http://a8.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/426222_310675165645024_100001076300962_911480_1184763370_n.jpg
  12. Go the Frankenstein route. I just built one in my legacy and love it. Lots of bottom end power and still pulls decent up to 6000rpm. i got a used ej257 block with 30,000 on it and rebuilt my ej22 heads with deltacams torque cams.
  13. Yes i do. Im picking one up from SJR when i get my lift kit from them
  14. Well now its onto does anyone have a D/R 5MT laying around and a matching rear i could buy. Im in LA till the end of February so i wont need it till then
  15. So what would be the best route just weld the rear and replace tires more often. The car has a frankenmotor and is getting a 8" lift with 30" M/T
  16. Ok so i need to look for a VLSD So look in a early legacy turbo car for the 3.9:1 and the D/R 5MT is 3.9:1 correct
  17. My first question is: Do they have a stock LSD rear with the same ratio as the D/R 5MT
  18. Another question i had is after i get headers and exhaust is there anyway i can tune this setup with the stock ECU to take advantage of the high compression even more or would i need a stand alone ECU to do any tuning
  19. http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/detail/FEL0/26167PT.oap?year=1998&make=Subaru&model=Forester&vi=1305469&******=Search_head+gasket_02289_1305469_2950&keyword=head+gasket&pt=02289&ppt=C0026
  20. ill have to keep an eye out for that if i see another set of there headgaskets
  21. They are the multi layer metal gaskets. I luckily knew atleast that much from reading on here to only go with the layered metal headgaskets.
  22. I went with fel-pro head gaskets. Now i know i should have gone with OEM ones. This being my first subaru engine i had a bit of a learning curve with it. Im hoping just like my fiero i can learn this car like the back of my hand
  23. ok i have no idea about the lifters that could be it. ive just been told if you try and start one of these engines with the timing off the valves will hit the piston and get bent. i guess i will just replace my seal i forgot to on the cam support so i stop dripping oil and see what happens with the lifter/maybe valve noise. Other than some noise and a little oil leak she runs like a top im very happy i went with this than just a stock 2.2 rebuild
  24. Well i feel like a *********************. It was the timing that was off i was in to much of a rush trying to get it together that i lined up the wrong marks for the timing. Its running now but i have a little valve noise from trying to start it with the timing off. So here in a couple weeks im going to pull the heads and get the valves fixed that i bent. But on the good side the engine pulls hard even with a couple bent valves. Now all it needs is headers then ill get it on the dyno and actually see how much power this combo has.
  25. well it would turn out better if the car would start. ive got fuel, air, and spark so now its onto double checking the timing to make sure thats not the problem. Is there anything else i should check that might make it not fire up or is there anyone willing to help me get this started. ive been out of a car for a little while now and im running out of options to get rides to work i need to get this car on the road
