  1. if you dont have volt meter just unhook those gas line from the carb and run the line into the jar and turn it on see if gas will come out .. thats what i did and it was one quick way to do it when you are in a bind lol but not recommened
  2. what i did was i bypassed all of that selenoid hoses just hooked everything else up and the egr valve is directly hooked to the vac hoses no more selenoid will have to get some resistors from radio shack and splice into the wiring and it should go away and i took out the light blub out til i fix it
  3. i spoke too soon thought it was trouble free.. i was cleaning the console and apparently somebody yanked the cel light out so i went to the junk yard and put it in and thought everything is a ok until the cel light came on i was like aw crap.. i got 3 long pluse then 4 short would that mean my egr selenoid is bad ? according to the trouble shooting code on here? and is that the stupid thing on the passenger side in the back of the engine near the valve cover thing ? or is it somewhere else ?
  4. yeah i figured that as much .. an identity code ? ive never heard of that before .. .. should it be off or its gonna to be blinking 5 single flashes forever ?
  5. i was doing some work on the antenna running new antenna cables and when i turned the key on , the ecu light and it blinked 5 times then it repeats same thing 5 times that i didnt noticed before i didnt know it had one there
  6. the car itself is a automatic and the rims is like my regular rims and the seats are very nice and i am thinking of yanking those off and put em in my car and the radiator in the car is gone ive been lookin around to see if i could find a nice set of rims and am trying to make my regular car look like a rally car like the one in the wikipedia those fog lights and aluminum rim they had on it and yes its a turbo according to the site on those pics . and ill have to go out back and see if i can start it up tomorrow ej20?? better replacement and why ? humm.. now im curious and just wanted to see whats the fuss is all about dont get me wrong on those ea82 its nice to have non interference engines that way when you blow a timing belt you could just slap a new belt back on in 20 min now that i know how to do it lol and i know some of the engines that subaru has for some of them are interference engines.. so i like simple things where i dont have to worry ya know ?
  7. its 89 90 ish subaru gl-10 turbo i am not sure if i should snag up the motor and the body on that car is already wrecked the guy wants 150 bucks for it and could use that motor into my current subaru gl but until then the subaru gl is running fine and nicely i thought why not get another motor just in case and rebuild it then save it til the motor breaks any opnion on that motor ? not worth it or is it worth getting the motor ?
  8. only one way to find out is pull the heads out and check for the cracks in the heads and could be just gasket.. it could be anything but only one way to find out again.. pull the heads out

  10. im used to a engine that is spinning at 1800 rpm in 5th gear in my f150 straight 6 300.. so i was like is this normal for a sub spinning at 3k rpm in 5th gear
  11. i have question is what rpm should it be running in 5th gear and i have 89 subaru gl d/r manual transmission just wanted to make sure its ok i think 3k rpm is a bit tad high
  12. i plan to do the seafoam and its good stuff i even use seafoam on my snowmobiles, for summer storage i pour the seafoam into the gas tank and top her off and forget it for the summer and run it in winter soon as the tank goes empty i fill it back up with fresh gas ive even heard of some old timers using mystery oil too ..
  13. for those who helped me out a while back on the timing belt, a little trouble shooting and wanted to say thank you very much and i was still hunting down for the overheating problem and was not idling right and i decided to just check and top the coolant however it was full , put some gas in drove it to the cabin. it was wanting to overheat but it didnt and then let it cool off for a while ... when i was about ready to go home all of sudden it started right up without me flooring the gas to get it started now it runs like new smooth not idling at 1,500 rpm or even two thousand.. like earlier now its idling at 700 rpm plus on way home no overheating .. i dont know what the hell it happened .. i am just leaving it alone... plus my mom goes " hey .. if it ain't broke, dont fix it!" leave that car alone so thats what i did .. but i have this weird thing going on i do know its a vaccum leak if i floor it the defrost goes to heat.. if i let go gas it goes back to defrost..
  14. busted a hose on upper on left the parking lights is solved and i feel like an idiot now it will not kill my battery.. i didnt know until someone posted on here saying check the top column on the sub.. now the lights are off
  15. the subaru is running perfectly replaced maf it didnt work correctly then slapped on the spfi all from a junk yard and its running beautifully will not fall on its face when i stab the throttle but it has a minor quirks but driveable the only issue i have right now is the radiator its plugged cold in middle hot on top and bottom so will replace it and hopefully no more overheating problem and one other thing is i cant figure out why is the parking lights still on when i turned all lights off its staying on on the brake light and the side marker so i have to un hook battery so it will not kill the battery
  16. did a vaccum test everything looks fine and no engine idle increase or decrease with a carb cleaner even along the intake and every where i could find with hoses so it has to be something else maybe the iac or something that is not working right new fan installed, still over heat will pull other parts off from another car throttle body and radiator and other things i might will need
  17. yeah thats first thing i am going to do is get a fan on there then trouble shoot the engine

  19. yeah thats what i thought i was thinking it doesnt look right when i got it cause i was thinking something is missing and i was wondering why one fan is over there and one big area with no fan in there ill have to run to the junk yard to find one possibly pull off all the parts out of there just in case like fi throttle body , and some misc stuff other than that it runs good above 1500 rpm but falls on its face if i hammer it so has to be a air leak somewhere or something is off somewhere

  22. no antifreeze in oil or milkshake just looks a little foamy in the radiator could be a air pocket in the rad , or plugged up radiator .. will dig into some more when the weather is better i am being hammered by snow storm
  23. will take pic in few minutes and and i kinda think it doesnt look right it could be a replacement engine. and ill take the pic of the car too as well
