  1. OK, here's the deal. I'm rebuilding an EA82 engine, SPFI, non-turbo. I live at 7000 feet and the car seems way down on power...it needs to breathe. Cleaning up the ports, slightly reshaping them to cause a spiral flow into the combustion chamber is straight forward, done it many times on M/C engines. However I've never messed with the combustion chamber dome shape before. The valves seem to be very close to the chamber wall, so close in fact that I think it affects the flow. I will shoot some pics and further clarify what I'm talking about. Thanks for your input. Klaus
  2. DJ, Thanks a bunch, but it will not work for me. Klaus
  3. Yes it would make a difference. It will not work. Klaus
  4. I'm in the process of rebuilding an EA82 engine, basically just re-ringing it. Where is the best place to get a rebuild kit for that engine? I'm looking for rings, all gaskets, all seals, and a new oil pump. Is there anything else I should consider replacing while I'm in there? Klaus
  5. It seems to me that the combustion chamber of the ea82 engine is shaped very inefficient. Can anyone verify that? I'm in the process of rebuilding an engine. I just took off one of the heads tonight and noticed that the valves are very close to the combustion chamber wall or dome. It seems to me that if some material is removed around the valves it would help improve head flow! What are your thoughts? Klaus
  6. Do you still have that tranny? how much would you want for it? Klaus
  7. Thanks GD, I just want to replace a 4wd tranny with another 4wd tranny. from a brat to a wagon. Klaus
  8. Are all like transmissions ( 4wd, 2wd, auto) interchangeable with all models that use the EA 81 engine?. Example: Will the 4 wd transmission from a ea81 brat fit into a ea 81 4wd wagon? Thanks a bunch for your help. Klaus
  9. It seems to do the light thing at random, but when it does it it does not go away. It also seems to come most frequently when I use the auto shutoff feature. The first time it did it was in Phoenix, AZ, therefore I know it's not water related. But it may be ground related, and I'm agreeing with qman and John, It may be switch related. I will mess with it some more tomorrow. Thanks, Klaus
  10. Switch seems ok. Do you think the left headlight relay is connected to the taillights and the instrument panel? And also with the auto shutoff feature? I'm in San Francisco, I will be here until Sunday. Klaus
  11. I'm 1500 miles from home, traveling in the '91 loyale and the taillights quit working. I stopped for gas, after starting the car the dash lights did not come on, I also noticed that the left headlight was very dim. I checked all the fuses but could not find a problem with any of them. Later that night I got pulled over by a cop who notified me that my taillights where out also. I checked the lights the following morning and all was working properly. But come nightfall all the same symptoms came back. I started experimenting and I think it has to do with the auto headlight shutoff feature of the car. I was able to drive with the parking lights on which got the taillights to work. Is there a relay that could be faulty???? What are your thoughts? I need to safely get back home so your input is greatly appreciated. Klaus
  12. Sounds like the same problem I had with my '91. Skip was right in my case and I'm sure he's right this time. I ended up getting a new starter and it fixed the problem. Klaus
