  1. We replaced the bearing...pressed it out and then oput it back in...but the whole steering wheel moves pretty freely...so i think it's the whole assembly that needs replacing...is steering knuckle the proper part name? I'm not stupid...just refer to it as the hub and maybe that's why I'm not finding it....?

    Thanks a lot, Angel

you mean just the part with the studs or the whole housing/hub/bearing assembly?

IF you mean the whole steering knuckle - try a junkyard. for a bearing - auto parts store

  2. Thank you Kilroy...We are hoping to figure this out soon...I don't think it is the issue you have given us but maybe you are right...we'll try what you said out and I'll get back to you....

Brakes can take awhile to break in (no pun intended), new pads still have little ridges on them that need to wear down. Try getting up to highway speeds and come to a controlled quick stop (making sure nobody is behind you). Several of those should take care of things, I had a guy at a brake shop tell me it can take up to 200km before they are smooth, but that a few stops like that can really speed up the process.

If you cleaned the brake parts and reinstalled them properly there should be no other reason that they are dragging.

  3. Montana,

Our friend did the fuel pump and the brakes. We replaced the fuel pump with a Master pump from Auto Zone...but he put it on for us...we have done our own brakes before on another car and have not experienced the sound we are now...we're thinking of having a look at them ourselves...we do not know how to bleed the brakes and we are wondering if that could be a problem...

Was this a DIY project or did you have someone do the work? I don't ask to question your ability if you did it yourself, more that maybe you could describe what you did in detail if you did it yourself (specifically the brakes) but the pump could be as simple as using a non OEM part (such as Checker or Advanced auto parts).
  4. Hey Guys,

We just replaced our fuel pump and the thing is making an odd noise. It is pumping fuel but making alot of noise. Any help or direction would be welcomed as we are doing all of our own repairs now...One more question: We replaced the rotors and brake pads and now it sounds like scraping even when the brakes are not applied...any ideas?

Thanks for the help, Angel :)

  5. Nipper,

Thank you...can't quite get what you mean though...we definitely do not hear the click anymore but I searched through the posts you hyperlinked for me and I'm not finding a solution...except to take apart the gear shifter assembly around it...it works when we press the button at the base...could something have come apart under the gear shift assembly?

    Angel :)

ok here you go. Its a simple system. You either have a bad relay or solenoid in the system.

YOu should hear a click when you have the car on, foot on the brake, and press the gear shift button. If you dont there lies the problem.

  6. 1999 Forester AT 162,000 miles. The heater/ac blower motor is starting work intermittently. I am positive it's the brushes in the blower motor. The blower assembly is very easy to remove form the car. But the motor seems impossible to remove from the plastic plate. Has anyone replaced the brushes on the Forester blower motor? The blower "assembly" is well over $200. That seems like a lot when all it really needs is a $2 set of brushes.

    HEY DUDE,

I'm not an expert but any chance you can get the assembly at a U-Pull it type place, they are much cheaper and so far all of the parts we pulled, worked.

  7. Hello,

My name is Angel. My husband Phil and I own a 93 Subaru Legacy L sedan. We bought it used about 7 years ago and we are having a bit of difficulty with the car now. It seems that whenever we try to go 60 or above the car struggles. It seems as though the engine is pulling back. The whole car shakes. We changed the air filter and now it seems worse. Also, the air blower motor works a little bit only, Phil took it off and cleaned it and it seemed to respond well but after about a week it is back to working only sporadically and then very little air at all. Any suggestions or ideas would be well appreciated.

    Thank you, Angel Terry :)
