  1. Hello,

Hey I was reading your post from 2007 about makeing 6 lug conversions. Do you still offer that?

  2. (and you might want to extend the radius rods on the control arms out so you dont have to beat the firewall in)

What ride would you get those from, and or, whom do you buy them from?

  3. Hello

I am in the process of building a 1987 4x4 wagon for my sons first ride. Next month I am gona buy a lift for it. 3 in front, 4 in back? Maybe 2 and 3. not sure . Working with limited funds. I want his car to be cool but pratical. I read your thread and was hoping you could share your knowlege and exspeariance with lifting my sons wagon. Thank you in advance for your time.

  4. Hello

I have spent the better part of today on the net and here(usmb) trying to determine if there is any reason NOT to run the fuel pump off the EA82 turbo, on the SPFI. Trying to find something some where that tells me what pressure the 2 different pumps produce. I was wondering if you might know??

  5. Hello GD.

I was not sure how to tell the difference between a good clutch fan and a bad one. If your holding it in your hand and it spins with some resistance, is it good or bad. I have two of them. One spins, the other dosen't. I just don't want to throw the wrong one away.

Well keep up the good work. I think its cool that you take the time to help as many folks as I've seen in all the posting that I've read this last month. Have a great day.

  6. Well Sir,

My sons car is up and running like a top, for a car with nearly 3oo thousand miles. its almost like new. Thanks for your input. It was really appreciated. I hope your still here when I do the ej22 swap. Do you have any thing put together in regards to the ej22 swap. I sure would read it if you did. I think I read most of all your post. At least pertaining to what I was doing this time.

Anyway. Thanks and have a great day.

  7. I sure do appreciate you takeing the time to read my post. Like you said, "had I only thought about it a little bit harder". I was just stuck on, if you turn it 360 degrees. Its back where it started at. Right?. Your input sure has been a BIG help. Thanks again

  8. Hello again GD,

How are you these days, well I trust. I am attempting to r&r the oil pump seals on my sons 88-gl/ea82. And in the manual they show how the cam spockets and valve timeing marks are supposed to go. I've been doing all this by the manual. But with the correct fly wheel marks where they are supposed to be. The passenger side cam sprocket is just like in the photo. But the drivers side cam sprocket is 180 degrees out. The car runs good. But a previous owner has been in there before me. In my mind, if I aline the marks like the book says. The drivers side cam is going to be 180 out. unless I move the alinment pin. I seriously doubt the other person whent to that much trouble to make it wrong. And it runs. Am I just not understanding the instructions? Do you time one side at a time? Can I just put it back together like the manual says? Are any of the valves pre-loaded when evrything is alined correctly?

  9. The boys are steering you in the right direction IMO. The Mass Airflow Sensor is the next suspect. See this thread.

Hello, Hey I tried finding the above mentioned thread. And i'm not sure if its me going about it wrong, or maybe its not there. I am trying to learn all I can about the Mass Air Flow sensor on my 87 gl 1.8l. Any help is MUCH appreciated

  10. Hello again, I hope your week has been good. my son and I have been makeing good progress on his 87 gl. Were just about ready to haul off the 85 EA82 turbo. And it has a brand spanking new distributor on the turbo. with the vacuum advance.

My question is, will the turbo disributor work on the SPFI motor. I can see that the turbo one has 4 wire leads in it, and the other only 2. Plus the SPFI distr. has no advance mecanism on the out side of the distr. But it seems to me it shouldn't be to hard to make work. My current hang up is in really wanting to use the new part, rather than see it get takein to the junk yard. Was just wondering if it will work and if its worth the effort just to have the new part. Thank you in advance for your time once again.

  11. Thanks for your time G.D. Its much appreciated.

  12. Re: EA82T MPFI to EA82 SPFI swap.... not plug and play

Hello again. I'm still researching away, and ran across another thread. It appears to me you've been doing this Subaru thing for quite some time. Good Job. I was wondering. What do you have to do to the wireing harness when you install a EJ22 motor into a car running the SPFI EA82 motor? Is there any part of this EA82T wireing harness going to be needed for that?

  13. "The rear discs are a good score - those basically bolt on. There is no advantage to using any of the fuel/ignition system from the '85 "

Is there and seat of the pants difference between the MPFI and the SPFI (aka TBI). As in, If I were to install The MPFI heads onto the stock 88 EA82 block. With the air intake and manifold and ECU off the 85 turbo. What about just installing the larger Air flow vavle (thats hooked up to the air box of the turbo) onto the SPFI. I noticed today as I was under the cars. That the exhaust diameters are the same on the turbo and non-turbo.

  14. Where at in Oregon are you? I'm thinking that the mpfi intake will fit.

    I'm in Sisters Or

  16. "First thing you need to do is throw the EA82T in the trash compactor."

I like that ansewer. My son and I are with in a day or so of putting the rear disk brakes from the 85turbo onto the 88 gl. We were also gona install the ajustable suspension from the 85 gl-10 onto the 88 gl. I was also going to go ahead and do a head gasket R&R on the motor we are gona be running. The SPFI motor has 278k on it. Is there any advantage to making the SPFI into a MPFI. {The MPFI motor has 170k} Also, is there any thing else off the 85 GL-10, that might be cool to hook my sons car up with. We are currently working with no buget what so ever. all we have going for us is two complete cars. The 85's body is rusted as can be. Not so with the 88. I bought the 88 because it has the manual Hi/Lo. The 85 is push button. I sure do appreciate your time and imput in this matter. I know for a fact you've already saved me a lot of time and headaches.

  17. Sounds like you might know a thing or two about EA82/EA82T engine swaps. I have a 1985 EA82 !.8L Turbo motor. I'm wanting to install into a 1988 GL Wagon, that currently has the EA82 1.8L SPFI power plant.

Do I need to pull the entire wireing harness to make the 1985 Turbo work in the 1988 GL? What about the Brain box? As far as I've been able to determine from all my current research. I'm thinking that I should have any and every thing I might need to do this swap. Haveing both cars on hand like I do.

Sounds to good to be true. Any tips/info or opions you might be able to share with me would be greatly appreciated. Trying to build my son his first ride. Going for the badass little subaru 4x4 thing. As well as something thats gona last awhile. Any info as to wheels and lift kits would be cool as well. Thank you for your time
