I'm swapping out my '97 outback 2.5 DOHC engine with a JDM replacement...the JDM has no EGR valve...mine does...I can see where I need to modify...but not real confident about what I've found as a reccommended procedure....any help will be greatly appreciated....thanks mojo

this amy or may not help...but my '97 outback 2.5 had head gasket issues...due to a bad back I was hesitant to do the gaskets...research led me to "steel seal"...ran a bottle in the engine following instructions and a year later is no leaks...just my .02...now I'm into fuel pumps and 02 sensors...does is ever end???

hooked up my gauge and have 28#'s fuel pressure at idle...thinkin' its on its way out...pricing on a new pump??? thankx guys...appreciate the help!!!

got the plugs and wires replaced...now it only starts with help(read throttle body cleaner)...where to check fuel pressure????

thanks guys.....door panel says 12/96...and the plug wires I got were for the 05/97-12/97...sometimes the odds don't make a difference....lol...now to get those last 2.5 plugs outta their little holes and new ones in...what a PITA this basic maintenance issue is!!!

was a split year for the '97's for the plug wires...I'll check out the door panel...thankx budz!!!

head gaskets done via steel-seal...no over heating...I don't drive this car...the wife does...codes indicate a knock sensor and miss-fire on 3 outta 4 cyls...I really don't like the look of where the plugs are...any tips on making the plug R&R easier on my old busted down back???? oh...I suppose NGK plugs and OEM wires??? thanks guys...))

'97 outback 2.5 auto 190K..when in neutral/park it revs fine...when in gear it stumbles...any help appreciated...

well....got the tranny in and it appears to run ok...I get an AT/temp light 16 times....connected my innova 3100 and get PO122 TPS circuit low input...and P1700 TPS circuit malfunction....question...first place to look...wiring or sensor??? mojo

front diff switched back and tranny ready to go back in....stub axles just pop out/in....thanks for the help....if my back would take a break I'd have it in by now....oh well...it'll get done when it gets done....again...thanks for the help...)) mojo

well I have the trans almost ready to drop...how do I pop the stub axles out....tried with a pry bar gently with the axles installed...but figgered I'd ask here before imposing my will on them...advice greatly appreciated...) mojo

I bought this tranny from foreignengines.com ...these are decommisioned vehicle parts from Japan...has to be the right tranny....else the bolts/electrical wouldn't hook up...I may end up dropping it again and swapping front diffs again....but I'll pull the stub axles first...thanks for the help...I may need more.. mojo

hmmm....didn't realize the stub axles pulled out....curses...thanks for that...I'll havta get at it next week...thanks again...) mojo

well...I finally got the transmission in...I needed to change the front diff as the axle connection was different...when started it has a ticking noise in park...when driven it slips and the ticking dissapears...thoughts??? mojo
