It is the 1.8 L, do you have or know where I can get this part or assy?

I am looking for the 1/4" base plate/cylinder that mounts between the pump and the engine. It cracked when I was removing it to change the gasket. The auto shops don't carry this part.

it is 4WD. I dont know how many doors. I am going to look at it tomorrow.

It has 75,000 miles and supposedly is in good condition... It is listed at $1200. too much???

I will look into the 5 speed trans option. I can tell that there is a lot of energy going into spinning the motor that fast ( about 4k @ 60 mph ). Where could I find a compatible 5 speed manual? Are there any other significant parts needed to switch it out? I will do some research, and talk to that Brast guy ... I will also compare a tank of premium gas to 87 octane. I dont remember which plugs I put in. It was whatever the cheaper ones were.

Is it typical that I only get 22-24 mpg in my 1981 GL hatchback 2WD 3 speed trans ? What can I do to improve this? The carb has been re built, new air filter, fuel filter, plugs & wires have been installed. A new cat was installed to pass CA smog, but there are some holes in the muffler. Does this affect mpg?

It appears that a carb rebuild and plugs & wires fixed the problem. The carb was clean inside, but it was leaking air, and the carb tuning was all out of whack. Thanks for all the advise!

[/img] Great ! All the vacuum hoses seem to be intact. I cut off some split ends, but it is still the same. I will try the sea foam, and follow up after that. Here are a couple photos. Enjoy!

I just bought this sweet car a few days ago and it has an issue im having a hard time putting my finger on. It only has 65,000 miles on it and I got it for a thousand bucks =D It is an 81 gl 1.8 2WD auto Idle is ok. When I give gas in park or neutral, everything is good. When I put it in gear and accelerate, I must do with a very soft touch until about 1600-1800 rpm where it picks up strong otherwise it wants to stall under a load. From a stop pointed uphill, dont even think about it. Fuel pump and fuel filter have been replaced with new, and I have sprayed carb cleaner in the carb several times. It has fresh gas , and I have put about 500 miles on it already. Please help !
