Ridden hard by previous owners?????! I think not. I crawled off road, and never broke a thing.
you know what i mean. when you drove up that hill in your driveway. that wasnt crawling. and you werent the fisrt owner either.

That sux!!!! What in the world were you doing to cause that? Wish I had access to a lot of older Subies (or any down here for that matter) to help you out but shipping would be difficult and I'm not sure if it's EA82 specific as I see you have discs back there and I haven't done the swap yet and haven't had the chance to check out my set up yet either.
just a mile long bumpy trail. im the newest owner and im sure its been ridden hard by previous owners. ive only owned it for 2 months and driven a total of maybe 8 miles offroad on some truck/atv trails. it happens to old rusty metal i guess. and btw it let go on the tar , after i had exited the trail.

My grandfathers did the same thing on the same side, they handle really funny like that ... You have any parts lined up? They are getting hard to find up here :-\
no parts lined up. it litterally just happend. i just got home and uploaded the pics lol.

so i went out for a little trail ride this evening in the brat and got some fresh new stance action goin on. im just glad i got out of the woods before it happend.
last pic was taken about 40 minutes before it broke. i had JUST gotten out of the woods when it let go.

well its still doing it. it sounds like its a rotating clunk , wheel baearing or axle. ive been too busy to tear into it latley.
-
i get a popping/clunking sound when i accelerate. it doesnt do it if im real easy on it. i just replaced driver side inner and outer tie rods , but it did it before too. went over to bratman's ( i bought it from him ) and we went over it and everything appears to be tight in the front end. any ideas ? thanks

Welcome. You have some reading to do in the OffRoad and Old Gen forums. Essentially there isn't a whole lot you can do on the camber without converting to different hubs or a major surgery basically.
yea after some looking i kinda figured it would be a PITA , it doesnt really ride all that bad so ill just keep drivin her and hope i dont roll over or something lol.

well all i had on hand was " lock de-icer with lube" in the little aerosol can. seems to work alot better till i can get it really fixed. ill look for the spray graphite. thanks
-
It sounds like the ignition *lock* has a problem, not the *switch*.
Remove the lock, take it to a locksmith, and have it rebuilt and new keys made. (in the meantime - turn the switch with a screwdriver)
Replace the switch with an OEM one from the dealer when you get the lock back - about $25.

i meant lock , i just call it a switch. im not quite sure how to take it apart. are there any how-to's on here ? i tried searching but it kept saying no results.

it sticks and its really annoying. any tips or tricks to get it working a little better till a replacement can be found ? screw driver ? lube ? BFH ? thanks
oh yea , 86 brat.

hey , new guy here. i bought bratman 18's brat. i hope to learn all about these neat little cars here. my old man use to have 2 of them when i was a kid and ive wanted one ever since. my first thing i wanna figure out is how to correct the positive front camber. heres a pic of the brat taken this morning at my house.
