AWESOME! I was wondering how these older wagons would do at the Dunes. Looks like they have enough oompf to have fun up there.

2" SJR Lift kit, with 14" Peugeot wheels and 27" Bighorns. Everything else is stock
Looks like you did some trimming to the wheel wells though?
-
Thing looks so damn good.
Agreed! Don't be surprised if mine ends up very similar looking to this.

Sounds more like a carb issue. I am guessing maybe something with the choke since heatsoak is still happening around 15 minutes and the engine doesn't completely cool like sitting for hours.

Thanks guys for the great info and pictures and ideas!
I am at work now, but in a few hours I will post a few snapshots to give everyone a better idea of what is broken. Stand by----
It would be great if I could replace the entire tube and bracket(s) assembly--if it's still available somewhere.....
What I have gathered from my short time with this group, locating a part shouldn't be a problem.

^ What he said. I just went through this a few months ago. Although, my old ones were torched out carefully.

Glad to see you are alive!

I got 33mpg on one tankful in my XT6 (4EAT w/ FT4WD) on a stretch in California and Oregon with the cruise set at 55mph. It makes a big difference. Seems the wall is 60mph, keep under that and your mileage goes up, sometimes quite a bit.
The EJ swap will get a little worse mileage in town if you are using the extra horsepower, but out on the highway, at the same speeds as you ran with the ea82, it will be about the same. If you're delicate with the happy peddle, better than the EA82.
This is what seem to be true with mine. 86 D/R 5spd and I can get 28 in town and 23 on the highway.

Lovin' it so far.

Not a problem. Better to ask than be sorry later. We all learn from others.

I haven't tried starting fluid yet. Never really needed it so it's not something I keep on hand. I'll pick some up since that would be a good thing to check.
Where in the intake would I spray it?
How do you check fuel pressure? I've seen a valve stem on the fuel line. At the rick of sounding ignorant, can you test the pressure on those with a regular tire pressure gauge?
I didn't see an answer to this yet, but do NOT use a tire pressure gauge. you will need a true fuel pressure gauge which any big box auto store should have in their 'loan-a-tool'.

Lookin better and better.

Did a good cleaning on the interior today... I honestly didn't expect it to turn out this nice.
-
Looks nice. I would love to have one for mine.

Haha, thanks for the pic Josh, that's classic!
Thanks Batlwgn, I thought I saw that you're a fellow Michigander. Your wagon also looks like it's in pretty nice shape. I might have a set of center caps for you when you decide to repaint your wheels if you're interested.
Thank you, it is still in reather decent shape. The interior is in excellent condition! but there is some rot underneath that I hope to fix come spring as well. Not as bad as some pics of the frame rails on here. And I would be interested in those center caps.

Nice pictures and it looks fairly solid still! Love the Sasquatch Repellant sticker! I want one.

bone stock? cmon those beauty rings gotta add hp. shoulda painted em yellow(more torque)
15HP I believe.. and I should've known yellow adds torque..... DANG!
Well I meant driveline/suspension wise. And that is how the trim rings were when I got it, although I don't think they look that bad. But I would like to get the wheels back to white come summer.

I clicked the link and it says your album is empty. but I agree that it looks clean for a MI car.

Here is mine: a bone stock 86 GL.

I thought it was real at quick glance and was wondering why the contact patch on the rear tire was jacked up. Nice R/C.

Can't get my dashboard oil pressure guage to work. Tried swapping out different sender units....no luck. I have a few generic sender units in my parts bin, can that be used or does it have to be subaru only?
I'm used to not even having a guage on my loyale, so I guess I can live without it.
Any other ideas?
This may be a shot in the dark, but my charging gauge didn't work and to make a long story short, it ended up being one of the screws mounting the printed circuit board on the back of the cluster was loose.

According to indysworld.com, sedan and station wagon have the same wheelbase. 2wd and 4wd had different wheelbases though. (at least on 85-87 models - didn't check older yet) Not trying to nitpick anyone, just trying to gain knowledge myself.
-
The sedan and wagon models have a slightly different wheelbase, I forget the precise amount but I think it's 5 inches bumper to bumper, 2 or 3 wheel to wheel (on center). Don't recall, I read it in a chart somewhere that could also have had errors--google is your friend! Pretty sure the info is online *somewhere*...
Anyway, if you are swapping transmissions on a single vehicle, you can go from sedan to wagon and just keep the drive train. As far as my experience goes, the transmissions are the same length, the drive train is what varies. Way easier on the engineering and manufacturing end to lengthen a drive train than a trans!
What parts are you trying to swap into what car(s)?
Relating this to the rocker panel thread that is on here right now:
If the wheelbases are 2-3 inches different, wouldn't the rocker panels also have to be different? But yet it shows that the sedan and wagon share the same rockers.
Get to scrap another GL.. Now what should I take?
