  1. wouldn't you need to change out the proportioning valve on a drum to disc brake swap? If you don't your brakes would not work right for example the car would nose dive and the front brakes would lock up on normal braking. My brakes teacher said you can get a manual adjusting combination valve and youi could play with the settings until your car stops right.
  2. Better yet get a stock WRX and smoke em, keep them close in the rear view then turn off onto the dirt road!
  3. if you get the vapor seperator make sure it is the right one. there is one with 2 ports and one with three. I think a complete tune-up would do wonders and would be pretty cheap. Also I would take the stock carb off the car (mark all vacuum hoses cause there is a bunch) and clean as much as you can without taking it apart. I am not a fan of re-manufactured carbs they tend to be worse than the original you gave up. Oh and if you get it fixed tell your uncle it was the MAP sensor all along. No need educating the already educated.
  4. I had this problem withan 84 gl. The hole was cross threaded and a simple re-tap fixed it up quick. This is a common thing with aluminum heads.
  5. did you replace the centering nut and washer when changing the axle. These parts can be bought at the dealership for $2 a piece or so. When an axle goes bad the centering nut could be worn out of round and cause the new axle to wear out fast. Also it could be the other cv axle since you said you only hear it when you turn left.
