I'm going to look at a Justy to pick up as a DD on Friday. I have no experience with Justys and I'm wondering if there are any particular things I should be looking for? The car is a 2 door, 5 speed, 4WD. It is in spected through May or June. "cosmetic rust" on the rear fenders and little bubbles on the back edge of the front wheel wells. The seller says it needs a "drive hub and axle" I am going to be looking at all the normal stuff for a used car (check the condition of the oil and coolant, run it for a while and make sure its not overheating, check for obvious rust issues, etc.) Do these cars have any typical rust spots or components that fail that I should be looking for? Any advice is welcome. Thanks.

I've been on the board for a little while now, though mostly lurking, but I haven't seen any Subie people from PA. I know plenty of people into newer stuff, but I'm into the older stuff. Any other Subie enthusiasts in western PA besides me and my family?

Tomorrow I am putting a 2 inch lift on my 84 Brat by putting 2" blocks on the front struts then lowering the cross members 1 inch. Im going to leave the back alone for the most part, just cranked up the torsion bar. Roll bar is being sandblasted and powder coated next week. Jump seat frame is getting re-fabbed and re-installed. New wheels and tires hopefully next week too. Also putting a weber carb on tomorrow. Fun project coming together quickly. I will be sure to fully document with pics. if anyone has any advice, send it my way. I am trying to keep my brat looking mostly stock, just a tiny bit more aggressive.

Before I dive into questions, I'll introduce myself. I'm located in Western PA, I have an 84 brat with a 2 inch lift and an 04 forester. I grew up on subaru and have owned several and I am becoming obsessed with collecting old parts, etc. and would like to get a few more 80's subies. Ok so now my current problems: I clicked around for a while to see if I could find answers to these questions, but I didn't find anything. Anyone know why I can't send PMs? I found settings and how-to's and stuff, but when I try to use this feature I'm told that I don't have permission or something to that affect. The statistics on my Profile also show that I have zero posts, though I have several. Any solutions?
