well im pretty sure i could use the lift at my dads friends garage lol, and i appreciate the engine write up because that very well maybe a possibility ik this would be a rather stupid idea on my behalf but if i got the legacy and the tranny was bad could i put my fwd one in till i can get another awd one? and jus disconnect the drive shaft? or should i just wait till i can put a new tranny in? i have till the end of january before im really worried about a fully operational car

ok well my local scrap yard has a million subarus so i can easily find parts or a whole transmission, they dont look hard to swap, are they? and im pretty sure its auto, but maybe ill check that out tomorrow and see what i can do, and my dads a good talker so the price could drop real quick and hopefully it does lol

well hes in p.a and he said the body has rust and he dealt with it properly, and he said he will get a jack and look under the car, there a few subarus for sale below 1000$ around here that 95 leg being one of them, and id prefer the legacy i think they look better, but i have no idea on whats good or bad with the tranny, mayb he says it needs a sensor but it really needs a new tranny lol, i mean i could go look at it its alot closer than the impreza, if any one of you knows a thing about the tranny electrics ill text him and see if know what the actual sensor is and i can post links of both cars if you wanna check them out

he wants 500 but im gonna see if i can lower it, and my dads friend owns a towing business so i just have to pay gas to get it from there to here, and im not on a budget really, i jus need a car to drive to work and at the end of the month school aswell, but i have a job and make money so i can always put into a car, i just want something i can drive and fix bits and pieces as i go, so if i drop my motor in i know its good as far as that im currently driving my moms mini van, but idk for how much longer since she will eventually need it aswell lol P.S i have a 1.8 not a 2.2, but would deffinatly rebuild a 2.2 or 2.5 and drop it in the car this summer

well the cars like an hr away and i dont know much about it he jus said the motors out, and it was a 2.2l. also i have my entire car to pull parts out of to fix it. im kinda out a car and not alot of money, but for a few hundred more i can get a 95 legacy sedan that needs a transmission sensor, but idk much about them, also the ej25 are notorious for head gaskets and rod bearings, and i know my motor runs fine, jus need to put new valve cover gaskets in when i pull it out because they leak a little currently waiting for him to message me back with the engine code thing

how can i tell phase 1 and phase 2 apart? it doesnt have an engine so can i check by the little plaque under the hood?

well my local junk yard has plenty of ej22 i can buy and intake if needed, do i need to pull all the sensors out of a ej22 aswell? and will the exhaust manifold fit directly with the exhaust in the 98?

I have a 95 impreza l fwd rust bucket that decided that the trailing arms wernt important so the cross member rotted out and they separated, and its so rusty idk if i can fix it, but i found a 98 impreza wagon awd that needs a motor (motor is not in the car), it had a ej22 and i have a ej18, i know that my motor will bolt right up to the tranny and other mount but will i need to put my wiring harness and ecu in or will they ej22 harness and ecu work with my motor? also will putting my stuff in cause problems when inspecting the car because its obd1 and the new cars an obd2?

Brought my car in to the shop at work today, (need another tech to do work cuz im notnallowed on my own car) gas leak is from above the tank, actual leak not evaporating, the rear trialing arms bushings are shot, need a passenger side axle, and the body/frame is rotted on both corners jus before the wheels and car will notpass inspection

Got to the scrap yard yesterday nothing but rusty ones, go to leave and I see this rusted out 94 impreza fwd with a next to new filler neck, cost me 12$ now hopefully its the same as mine lol, find out next day off of work n schhol

I have a 95 impreza l fwd 1.8, i believe my filler neck has a leak in it, i smells gas when ever im done driving right by the rear tire where the gas cap is, i put my face between the tire and quater panel and its real strong, also i cant exactly remember so correct me if im wrong, the fuel lines run inside the car? And i dont smell fuel, its been raining so thats why i havent gotten under the car to look, my main question is are the filler necks the same between a awd and fwd? I know the tanks are different and not sure about the filler necks, so any information would be appreciated (sorry for typos and such using cell phone )

@ivan - What does changing the front crank seal consist of? Because this is the only car i have and i need it to get to n from school @fairtax - whats the torque supposed to be at? Do i jus check it for them not to be loose or do i loosen them and retighten them to spec? Also since its my daily driver should i just find a workin motor for cheap and rebuild it all new gaskets and seals and just drop it in? My motor just got to 155k, idk how much life there expected to have so yea, if its anything like my nissan ill let it ride because it didnt give me any true problems till nearly 220k, and that car had alot of high revving abuse, my subaru barely gets any

I just had to do this on my impreza l used a propane torch and heated it up, and used an impact came out no problem, and i live in NY and my car is a rust bucket, but the ball joint would not come out of the hub, ended up going to a local junk yard and got a new hub (broke old one) that had a good ball joint for 5$ more than a new ball joint would cost, so if you have that option it always helps

Thanks, I'll just pour some seafoam in my oil and see if that does something, it supposed to "free sticky lifters" so I'm guessing its the same thing

Okay will do, does the type of eBay timing kit matter or are they pretty much all the same? Does anyone have an idea on the ticking noise? Its always there its just something that worries me the cars gonna break down, I mean its not new, so there's just that feeling its gonna make its final tick and a lot more noise is gonna come mixed with smoke and a non working motor lol

Thanks, I don't know when, if ever the timing belt was changed i have a folder with receipts from previous owners and i don't see that it was ever done so maybe i should do that soon, also my engine makes a ticking noise when its cold is this common? Sometimes it takes awhile but it eventually stops. Could my valves possibly need to be adjusted?

I have a 95 Subaru FWD 1.8l and it has an oil leak somewhere and I'm curious as to what the common spots are, before i climbed under it my friend said its dripping from timing cover and oil pan gasket, i get under there and there is indeed oil there but its also all over the heads, so that is putting me towards valve covers, but any information on the common spots I should check first would be greatly appreciated P.S It's not bad unless its starting to get worse, i have the car for almost a year and every time i change my oil i check it first and the dipstick is still close to the high indicator, i never check my oil anymore because its never had any issues, I started using 5w-30 synthetic, and head it may cause leaks on old cars due to the old gaskets

Hi i have a 95 Impreza L, i would like to change the color of my gauge lights, but I don't know what type each bulb is. Id like to change all of them not just the rpm, speed, gas, etc, but also the CEL light, turn signals, everything, so any help on what bulb type each thing is would be greatly appreciated P.S. If I'm posting in the wrong board please let me know

so i took the belt off and my rpms are at 1000 when its been warmed up and driven, is these because the engines a little less worked so it doesnt have to try as hard, or did i mayb f somethin up?

Well I was just doin it for a posible fuel economy increase, I mean any extra power with this weak motor will be nice, but I never use ac and see no reason for it to be there, I like power steering though so I think ill keep it, but thanks

can i jus take out my ac compressor, belt, and idler pully thing and not affect my engine negatively? it looks like a easy removal and just eliminates a belt but im not entirely sure so im curious I have a ej18 out of a 95 impreza
