  1. I've been unsuccessful in the past finding Subarus in junk yards and pick n pulls around little rock. I'll probably have to have them shipped to me from someone on here. Tomrhere helped me out last time with a control arm for the other side. The suspension on that side was already bad, it would bottom out a lot on bigger bumps.
  2. You're right I'm a cheapskate and poor. I do think Subarus have value though. I would much rather have an old Subaru than pretty much any other car in my price range.
  3. https://plus.google.com/app/basic/photos/111401324895028729165/album/6089846759350700065?cbp=nm35trtl7z90&sview=2&cid=5&soc-app=115&soc-platform=1&spath=%2Fapp%2Fbasic%2Fstream I really didn't see much damage to the back wheel. Everything except that one support looks good. Anything else I should be looking at? I went and looked at that 93 justy today. It leaks Coolant and will only start for about 5 seconds before it dies. I think the Coolant is leaking from the water pump. I think the fuel filter is clogged as well. It's in excellent condition. I don't think I'm going to buy it even though I really want to. I would rather fix the gl I think. The girl wants 550 for it now because so many people showed interest in it. I could buy it, fix it and flip it. 35 mpg is very appealing. I bet it would sell for 800 at least if it was fixed.
  4. It will be a bad rump roast first car for him.
  5. I do like that 82 gl but it's over an hour away not too sure if it would make it home. Wonder how much a tow would cost. Thanks for the advice on the justy.
  6. EDIT More pics https://plus.google.com/app/basic/photos/111401324895028729165/album/6089846759350700065?cbp=nm35trtl7z90&sview=2&cid=5&soc-app=115&soc-platform=1&spath=%2Fapp%2Fbasic%2Fstream https://plus.google.com/u/0/111401324895028729165/posts/Sdj6ZFtjraT?pid=6089070207250407938&oid=111401324895028729165 I fucked up and didn't yield when making a left turn. This is the result. She took it like a champ and didn't hurt me at all. I drove it home 2-3 miles afterwards despite the rear tire being slanted 10-15 degrees. I saw that the small piece of steal that holds the control arm to the frame had pulled away from the frame. Haven't had time to take that tire off yet, plan on it tomorrow. Will get some more pics. Really surprised at how well she took the hit, it was a pretty big van that hit me. This car has been very good to me. I've done nothing but abuse her and she just keeps on rollin. Anyways I was looking at craigslist and found this 92 Justy. I'm going to look at it Saturday. I will probably buy it. I think it just needs a new clutch since she says that it runs but doesn't drive. https://littlerock.craigslist.org/cto/4780769135.html Also saw this 82 gl. are the parts on the this compatible with my 87? https://littlerock.craigslist.org/cto/4787622126.html
  7. This guy has one for sale. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=137978&highlight=ea82+pump Pretty good thread here http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=137808&highlight=pump+rebuild
  8. I think there are several guides on here with pictures. Give me a few and I will find one for you. Use the search button
  9. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=112226 http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=77491 Helped me out a lot.
  10. My 87 GL does the same thing. I've heard it could be the coolant temp sensor. Not sure though as I haven't got around to messing with it.
  11. TomRhere has this arm that I am buying from him. Not sure what it came off of; Will ask him. It is meant to replace this arm that came off of my 87 GL. The only difference that we can see is that his has that round piece of metal sticking up. The question is will that arm fit my Subaru?
  12. The no ads is what really made me want to donate. I turn my adblock off for sites that I like and saw no ads on here after turning it off. Really surprised me. You almost never see web sites with zero ads. It says a lot about the community.
  13. This message board has helped and taught me so much. My Subaru would have been junked long ago if not for you guys. Where do I donate? It is the least I could do!
  14. Anyone have suggestions on where I can find another Arm? None of the salvage yards around here have older Subaru's. I don't want to waste a $50 bearing trying to use this arm. Called salvage yards and searched the internet all day.
  15. Thanks for the advice 987687, I almost bought those on ebay. If anyone has the drivers side rear arm and maybe the brake assembly let me know. This was the result of the cotter pin coming off causing the wheel and hub to come off while the vehicle was in motion; luckily while only going like 5mph. I assume the brake assembly hitting the ground is what caused all this. After putting the thing back together and driving it home 15 miles the bearing did not sound so good. Wish I would have had the money to tow it at the time. The bearing came out in pieces; I'm not sure how the wheel was even turning. The seal was still in there pretty good when I took it out.
  16. Just found this on Ebay. It looks exactly the same and I get the brakes and the other sides arm. Wonder how much the shipping would cost; can't be more than $50 I would think. It came off of a Brat Would it fit my gl hatchback? http://www.ebay.com/itm/SUBARU-GL-BRAT-4X4-REAR-SUSPENSION-ARM-ASSEMBLYS-/160790486823?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item256fdc1f27&vxp=mtr#ht_500wt_1169
  17. Pulled the bearing out of the rear suspension arm and after cleaning it I noticed that where the outer seal goes is warped on the inside. Maybe a machine shop can fix it? This is off of a 4WD EA82 1987 GL. I took a couple pictures. Any advice would be very appreciated. Thinking I need to go find a pick and pull if I can find one with an older Subaru.
  18. Replaced the fuel filter and it runs much better! Still slows a little on really big hills but keeps speed. Thank you very much sidekckin! My hatchback does not have a fuel separator. Just need to figure out why the choke does not work correctly when I first start it and with the heat/AC on.
  19. Tomorrow I'm going to replace the fuel filter next to the fuel pump. The filter its self did not look that old but I could see a lot of gunk on the inside of it. I think I might also replace the pump with the aftermarket one I got from auto zone. It came with a different kind of filter though. Maybe my car doesn't have the fuel vapor separator because it has the EA82 engine? Also when I went to find the fuel pump fuse it was already disconnected so the fuel pump must have already been rewired by some one else. I'm getting no where fast with this car.
  20. The only filter I could find was a see through white plastic one next to the pump under the car; it looked to be a year or two old. I don't see any filter at all under the hood above the brake booster. I do see the fuel lines coming out right there with a little round metal tube on one of the lines that is not much bigger in diameter than the line its self and only like 1 inch long. Perhaps my model does not have the vapor separator. I can't look at the car till after 4pm and it get's dark shortly after so I never have time to really get into it. Will be working on this today for an hour and all day tomorrow. If I did find this fuel vapor separator where would I find another one? Can't find it anywhere online. Do I need to go ask the dealership? Also does anyone know about installing this aftermarket fuel pump? The instructions say to wire it to the oil pressure safety switch but why can't I just wire it to the old wires? I kind of want to narrow this down before I start replacing parts and spending money. Thank you so much for your help sidekickin. Will keep you updated.
  21. Mine is also a hatchback! It's so weird responding to a post of over 7 years and getting useful info from the original poster. Tomorrow afternoon I will be taking of that metal plate that houses the square fuel pump and fuel filter. I will also look at the Vapor separator that you talk of. I have looked at the fuel pump already and it looks like it has never been touched and the steel plate housing it has probably never came off before.
  22. I was told the previous owner had changed the fuel filter; however after looking at the fuel pump it looked like that one down there had never been changed. Hopefully I can just change that one and return the fuel pump. Can you tell me more where both are located so I can see if they have been changed? I'm sure I can find them it's just the parts in this car are a bit different than others I have worked on. Thank you for your input! I will let you know how it goes tomorrow afternoon.
  23. I have the same exact problems as you on my 87 GL. Not sure what kind of carb it has. The car is a lot worse when below half a tank like you said and it can barely get up steep hills when cold. I'm about to change the fuel pump but was hoping some one had more knowledge on this. I already have an aftermarket fuel pump from autozone; was only $30 after using the $20 credit I had. It says in the instructions to wire it to the oil pressure switch but I'm not sure if this car has one or where it is. Can I not just wire it to the original wires? I think it may also be a vacuum leak but it looks like the EGR system has been removed by a previous owner and I can't find a very good diagram. Also the car has exhaust leaks. When it's warm out and has a full tank of gas it drives awesome and is so fun. Any help would be very much appreciated as I am working on a budget and really have no clue where to start.
