  1. Tried to drill out the studs when I couldn't remove them but there was some sort of bonding agent so I ended up just removing the custom plate entirely. I ended up getting the Redline adapter. Which from besides the gaskets not really lining up works well.
  2. I was thinking about getting the '84 one but I wasn't sure. They're kinda expensive. I ended up ordering the Bentley one instead though. Thanks guys!
  3. I recently purchased some 1986 Subaru service manuals from Books4Cars but they do not really include the GL hatchbacks. Seems to be geared towards the 3rd generation. Does anyone have the service manual that includes the ea81 hatchbacks and could maybe tell me which one to purchase?
  4. I'm doing a weber swap from a weber/carter and it looks like mine is going to be a bit short as well. I'll examine it a little more tonight.
  5. Hey guys, I'm hoping to get a little advice. I'm switching out the Weber/Carter 1bbl carb and putting in a weber. I bought an intake manifold that had a custom Weber adapter welded/bonded to it. Well when I went to see what it would look like when I put on the Weber I noticed that it wasn't going to clear the spark plug wires and the contacts on the distributor. I measured from the intake, the size of the spacer thing w/gasket and it was about 5/8". It looks like I'll need another 1/2" or so to clear so about 1 1/8" total. Does that seem right?
  6. Thanks again!

  7. I have a grill and those bumper covers I think. I just happened to get those from a friend of mine. lol. I can send pictures if you want.

  8. Hi McBrat. Just hitting you up about those hatch ropes. email me at hitoshi.satow@yahoo.com so we can work out the details! Thanks.

  9. From searching around the forums I believe the 4spd dr transmission will just bolt on to my '85 gl hatch (EA81). Is this correct? The guy that is installing it for me is asking and I just wanted to double check.

  10. Sounds good. I'll bring the cash. There's a Fred Meyers at 1900 Southeast Sedgwick Road, if that's not too far away from your place, we can meet up at. I'll get off work early so I can get over there at a reasonable time (5-6 pm?) Don't really feel comfortable putting my phone number out where it's accessible from here but if you email me at hitoshi.satow@yahoo.com and I'll send you my number.

  11. Seattle. I could come after work today or after work on Friday. Email me at hitoshi.satow@yahoo.com so we can work out a time and place.

    Thanks!

  12. Hey SuperBrat,

Thanks for getting back to me on my post. E-mail me at hitoshi.satow@yahoo.com so we can exchange info for the 4wd emblem.

    Thanks,

    Toshi

  13. Hey, just wondering if you'd be able to meet up for me to get the dr 4spd sometime soon. Hit me back. Thanks!

  14. Okay. Besides figuring out how to get my parts car up from Gig Harbor and where to park it, things are on track so far. Trying to track down a transmission and a clutch. I'll look for a 5spd dr. -Toshi
  15. Got my base 2wd car. Going to get the donor on Monday.
  16. I'm working on getting a donor car so misc parts probably won't be that big of a issue. There is a problem with the donor cars transmission being stuck in 3rd so I'll probably need to track one of those down as well.. heh, actually the biggest problem I'm going to have is trying to find a place to park/work on the donor while dismantling it.
  17. Thanks for the replies. I'll see about picking that one up and start planning my conversion!
  18. I'm looking to find a Subaru GL hatchback. I found one up on Craigslist but it is an automatic with no 4wd. Car is in really good condition though. Does anyone have a rough estimate of the time/cost it would take change this to a manual transmission with hi/lo 4wd? Thanks!
