  1. I know this is months later but I finally did get around to using shellac. Unfortunately, I lost oil pressure when I was test driving and wasn't really in a place I could stop safely. Now it's all f-ed up.. Maybe I need a new hobby lol.
  2. I haven't put my car in lo in awhile but I believe when in hi 4wd there's a green light that says 4wd. When you engage lo there's a yellow light that says lo as well as the green 4wd light. Assuming those are working. I can check later.
  3. I'm hoping to get to it this weekend. Been really busy lately. I'll post an update when I do.
  4. I forget where I got my Bentley now. It was online somewhere but not Books4Cars. They didn't have it. Maybe Amazon or eBay. Anyways, I know this post is over a year old but I just got my license back and finally was able to get the work done on the front breaks. I ended up getting a break tool from O'Reilly's and it was fine. Breaks are feeling a lot better now. Thanks!
  5. Hmm, I sanded down the surface of the manifold. I think it's a little better but there's still a leak at the base between the manifold and adapter piece. Maybe it's the gasket material I got from the autoshop isn't right but still leaking... I'll try it again with shellac now.. hopefully that'll do the trick.
  6. I have an '84 GL with an auto trans. It has some sort of sensor in the exhaust, I didn't really examine it. But the ECS light would go flicker off and on. It did that until I finished the AVS delete. Actually needed 3 quarters because there was another pipe to block off closer to the cat. My ECS light still goes on after some driving but I have other problems I'm working through right now, lol. I'm curious to know what your issue is. Let us know what you do. Thank!
  7. Okay, the surface seems like the next thing to check. Both the weber and adapter are brand new but I'll go through and check the all the surfaces. Also, do you just use dry gaskets or some sort of grease applied?
  8. Hey, I'm having trouble getting my weber installed without a vacuum leak between the manifold and the adapter as well as the adapter and the weber. Do you guys have any tips or methods for getting those installed without leaks? I've tried dry gaskets, "greased" gaskets as per the instructions. I think the best success I've ever had was using a cereal box gasket with some gasket sealant between intake/adapter I bought from the local auto store then a dry gasket for the adapter/Weber but even then I had some issues with it eventually. I've already broke a adapter torquing down the weber. And I'm not sure how much more I could get those alan bolts down without breaking it. This also applies to the carb studs/Weber nuts. Any tips or help would be appreciated! Thanks- Toshi
  9. I'm planning on parting out one of my Subaru for it's 4wd parts but am trying to figure out the best way to remove/scrap the frame after that's done. Anyone with experience with scrapping cars without the drivetrain have any tips on how to do this? Thanks
  10. It's really rare to find really clean hatches. If I would have found this when I was looking I would have jumped on it. Although, I'm not too big on the maroon/tan interior.
  11. Do the Escort's seats work in the rear too?
  12. Update: I wanted to thank everyone here who helped me get this done. I finally got my car back together today and took it out for a test run. Shifts well now. Picked up some Extra-S this weekend as well as some studded snow tires. I should be ready for the mountains soon! Thanks again! :-p -Toshi
  13. Thanks. I did a search for crank pulley but must have skipped this one cause of the title. Next time I'll google too.
  14. Anyone know off the top of their head the size of the crank pulley bolt? Thanks- Toshi
  15. I got my clutch disc in the mail today. The disc is Valeo. It wasn't in it's original packaging though. So I guess I just have to take it at word that this is genuine OEM replacement. I could have gotten the whole Valeo kit off Amazon shipped next day for less that I paid for just the disc through the dealership.
  16. OEM clutch disc was fun to track down. Carter Subaru in Shoreline said 3-4 weeks. So I kept calling around. The guy at Walker Subaru was really helpful and gave me a number to a dealership in Idaho that had the disc on hand. Was getting a little worried for a moment.
  17. Next time I'll upgrade to 5sp. Already have the kit for it. lol.
  18. Just stopped by my local Subaru dealership up here. Apparently it's going to be 3-4 weeks until they can get a clutch disk (part no. 30100AA245) I'm going to try to find it somewhere online today. Also, if someone here can verify the part number you can save me the trouble.
  19. FYI, Here's the email from the guy from Exedy. Toshi, Thank you for your interest in Exedy products. The 15003 clutch kit has the disc that you would need (21Tx7/8” and 225mm OD) and the pressure plate shares the same bolt circle pattern of the FJC513, unfortunately that kit has been discontinued and we have 0 kits left in stock. If you have any further questions feel free to contact me. Sincerely, Steve Kaminski Technical Coordinator http://www.Exedyusa.com
  20. I can't seem to find a Exedy kit for later EA81 225mm. I've since found all the Sachs/Duralast other kits. So I think I'm going to try to call the parts department at the local dealership.
  21. I can't seem to find it in the Exedy catalog. I searched for all Subarus for various years but was only able to come up with 15001 and 15008. I also looked through their pdf and searched for the specific metrics 225m, spline dia. 7/8 and # of splines 21 and was unable to find any. I was able to find a couple of sites that listed 15003 that had the correct clutch size but they did not have them available. I'll continue searching at lunch time. Thanks.
  22. Weird. So I have the parts out now. It looks like the 15001 kit matches with the Sachs kit. It's an '86 hatch with an EA81. The transmission I believe came off a brat. It's a 4sp d/r. Hmm.. Did later model EA81s ever come with larger flywheels? I guess I can put it back together with the clutch from the 15001 kit and the pressure plate from the 15008.. Although that's similar to how it was before. Will that work? I have a picture below of the different kits. For the pressure plates from left to right. Sach, FJC504 (15001), FJC513 (15008) and the clutches from left to right. Sach, FJD001U (15001), FJD006U (15008)
  23. Got the transmission removed enough to get at all the pieces. Hopefully I can find some time in the evening tomorrow to put the right kit in and get some reassembling done.
  24. I've done a little more searching and I think the Exedy 15001 is going to work. I'll order that when I get back home.
