  1. ok so weve got a wire going from pin 37 of the ecu to the ignitor then another wire from ecu to ignitor the the blue wire from the ignitor to coil(-) black/white to coil (+). annnd finally a wire directly from ecu to coil(+) so what is the other wire from the ecu to ignitor? pin 37 should be the output to trigger the ignitor and coil, then there is the question of what the wire from the ecu to coil is for? if you could help me out that would be great im getting in over my head thanks ty
  2. thanks morgan i dont know if it makes a differance but the motor is an ea82t mpfi (hotwire maf)
  3. quick question for anyne who knows how these things work! ok first off am i right that it grounds through the bracket? now ive got to wires going in (black and blue) and two coming out (black and white) one of them has to get siggnal from the ecu and one has to go to the coil so if anyone can give me a rundown of which wire is which that would help me immensly thanks Ty
  4. so essentially the coil (-) gets hooked up with pin 37 then (theres the amp inbetween though)? also naru could you send me your diagram if possibe? and thanks for all the help!
  5. allright so green is ground and red is power! sounds good to me i'll have to give it a try! so where does the coil get its signal from? is it pin 37 to the ingition amplifier thingy then the coil?
  6. allrighty so we have got black = reference wire white = position wire now just green and red to go!
  7. that would make the black wire the crank angle sensor referance then?
  8. ok so they all go to the ecu, my ecu pinout shows crank angle sensor (power)(Red) crank angle sensor (reference)(white) crank angle sensor (position)(green) so if that is correct then is the last dizzy wire (the black one) a ground or does it go to the coil?
  9. ok well it doesnt have a vaccuum plug so it must be optical, but i dont have any plugs since this is a transplant project. ive just got the four mystery wires. so if your info is correct then which wires end up going to the ecu?
  10. now im not sure if its optical or regular, how can i tell?
  11. hmmm i was under the impression that this was the hook up for the crank position sensor which wires into the ecu with one wire being power one ground one reference signal and one position sensor?
  12. hey guys i was just wondering if anyone could tell me what each of these wires is for coming off the dizzy of an 87 ea82t motor. (its the crank position sensor wiring) ive got 4 wires a black one a red one a green one and a white one! thanks Ty
  13. an ea82t is a much better choice for a vw transplant, the ej N/A engine has alot more "snap" to it right off the start which is what tends to fry weak vw trannys. and as far as weight goes the ea and vw 1600dp are really close dry wieght. you will have to brace the frame horns and also support the engine. DONT JUST LET IT HANG OFF THE TRANNY!!! the extra torque twists everything and will end up braking alot of parts cheers -Ty-
  14. hey nero, i havent got my scanner working yet, but i did the ea82t swap and the wiring really isnt that difficult. some more plus's with this set up are that the intake is really easy to plumb and the turbo is easy to relocate. its not really that much wider than a stock vw engine (maybe 3 inchs) and its definatly no longer or taller. if yu end up going this way feel free to email me at tyrelneufeld84@hotmail.com Cheers Ty
  15. it fits perfect!, its a baja bug so i could fit a v8 if i wanted
  16. hey neuro, i did my own harness. took awhile but it was the best option. i have all the diagrams (i had to make them myself) i could scan everything for you. did you make your own engine adapter? well anyways let me know how your project is going, i gotta go weld up my new exhaust header
  17. hey guys if anyone can answer these that would be great! 1) does the wastegate control stuff need to be connected or can i just run the wastegate directly into the intake manifold? 2)im not going to be using a heater core, should i remove the thermostat? 3) can i plumb my oil cool in between the turbo oil inlete and the turbo? 4) would anyone recommend synthetic oil over regular with cooling in mind? thats it for now! ive got all my wiring done, well just about anyways the TPS is still confusing me
  18. im in the process of making some new rear trailing arms that will allow for 18-20" of travel:grin: i dont think i can make new front ones so ill just buy some to get the same travel outta the front, i still have good old drum brakes, im gonna try and rig up some disk brakes out of a 280z if i can get all the pieces i need!
  19. well ive got the turbo in a mock set up now, gotta finish the header
  20. its easy to do without the spidy manifold, actually easier you just plumb the coolent/oil lines to the front, make a new header to the turbo and then to an intercooler then to the throttle body:cool: i live in kamloops bc by the way
  21. ive got a 99 civic rad mounted under those lights its kinda hard to see due to the angle im gonna try it out with a flexlite fan, hopefully it will be sufficiant but we'll have to see
