  1. Ok, how to you check for torque bind? Do you turn the wheel all the way to one side and do small circles slowley? If there is torque bind, how bad is that to fix? or does that just the start of many bad things to come and stay away? thanks!
  2. It's an automatic......how do you know if you can replace the mount? Forgive me, i'm not the most mechanically inclined person. what should I look for? thanks!
  3. Sorry, they said it needed a transmission mount, not engine mount. I'd be driving it from Baltimore back to Nashville, does that sound kind of risky? I think the price is right, but kind of scared to drive it all that way or do you think it's no big deal. thanks!
  4. Hey just wanted to say that you guys and gals have helped me so much since i've been here, it's like i have my own personal mechanics.....Anyway found a 95 Legacy L wagon for sale with 74k miles, auto. 2.2L, asking $2,500. They said a mechanic told them it needed a transmision mount - costing around $200. They want to sell it as-is. Does this sound like it could be a big problem. What's the worst case scenerio driving it like this, will it just rattle the car? once again thanks for the help!
  5. Ok, I found this 1991 Loyale wagon for sale, with 140k miles, manual, 4wd, new tires, runs good, asking $850 obo. It has the 1.8L in it.....Is there anything I should look out for with this engine? Is it as reliable as the 2.2L? Anything that you guys could tell me about this car would be much appreciated.....it seems like a good deal and I think it might go fast, thanks for the help!
  6. I'm trying to decide between these two cars: 1. 1995 Subaru Legacy Auto, 2.2 L, 64,000 miles, good shape, $4100 2. 1995 Subaru Legacy Outback, manual, 2.2L, 132,000 miles, good shape, $3400. I can't decide which one to go with, correct me if i'm wrong, but this was the only year of the outbacks that had the 2.2 L? Any problems with these 95's that I should look out for......thanks for the help!
  7. Midas says they use semi-metallic pads when they do the job, will this be ok, or do they need to be organic? thanks
  8. have you hear anything about Just Brakes service. Also, the pads they use are Sentra by the way.
  9. Ok, here's the deal, I called back the Dealer and he said for pads and to turn the rotors is $250 for front and $250 for the rear and the check the brake lines. So, plan B. I called Just Brakes here in Denver and they said the can put new pads and turn rotors on front and rear, and check lines for $95. He said they use Centrix (sp?) brake pads.
  10. a 99 Outback. I've been quoted at $250 for parts and labor. He said they have to do more than just put new pads on or something. I thought that seemed a little high.
  11. I'm taking my 99 Outback to get the 60k scheduled checkup and wondered if anyone knows a good dealer or Denver area. Thanks a lot for the help!
  12. The 97 Legacy L wagon (2.2) has 47,000 miles and the 99 Outback Wagon (2.5) has 69,000 miles. Both are in great shape, would you trade the 99 Outback straight up for the 97? I have the Outback by the way.
