  1. Execllent - thanks for the quick replies!
  2. So we have a '91 Leggo wagon with outback struts and a 3" lift kit. The radiator hoses are spliced together with exhaust tubing just while we got it running, and I'd like to swap for one piece units for piece of mind and ease. I know I've seen recommendations (if not part numbers) on here before, but my searches are coming up empty. Any recommendations out there? Thanks in advance.
  3. Yeah - we spun the center bearing and have clearance at the driveshaft, so that's not the noise. I'll have to take a closer look this weekend to see what if anything is rubbing.
  4. Gotcha. And that will cause the grinding noise? Accordint o Justin it seems to be coming from the front suspension. I'm hoping the adjustment is easy then.
  5. Dogbone? Help me with that one - not familiar with the terminology. When we got the strus from PnP we picked up a decent set of rad hoses. I spliced them with a short piece of exhaust pipe. A little ghetto, but seems to work ok for now.
  6. That's what I was thinking - but I think that means that the a-arm brackets are on the wrong sides (the open end would have to be towards the back for the brace to fit into it). Right? Am I crazy?
  7. Thanks Scott - so does the a-arm bracket look like it's installed correctly? IE, the 'c' open towards the front of the car? Also - I know you mentioned that I need to flip a bracket underneath - something about the center dif maybe? The way I have it installed now the front driveshaft is rubbing a bit. Thanks again - I need to write it down next time!
  8. Hi there - so I'm helping install this kit and had jrxl post up. I do recall Scott telling me that the mystery bracket was a brace of some kind for the a-arm block, but I can't remember how it goes together (I don't have instructions) and I don't see any obvious places where it would bolt up. If anyone has a pic of how it goes together that would be especially helpful. Thanks...
  9. Dang - missed them by a day. Thanks for the herads up. Actually considering an SJR lift now. Gotta decide which way to go...
  10. Hi all - I'm looking at getting a SJR 4" lift for a '91 Legacy. I have a couple of questions about it. Any comments or suggestions from experience would be helpful. -Is everything included (any other parts like hardware I would need)? -Do I need any special tools? -How long would it take someone to install it if they had all the tools? -How difficult is it to lengthen the steering shaft? Thanks for the help...
  11. Thanks for all the ideas. I assume that the mesh bag is a pain to get to since you have to drop the tank to get to the pump?
  12. Hi all - just picked up a '91 Legacy wagon. When we made a hard right turn to go up a hill today testing the new tie rod ends, the motor stumbled and nearly cut out before catching again. It was a pretty hard turn, I admit. Seems to run fine any other time. My first thought was fuel starvation, but it has 1/4 tank of gas. Any ideas? Where should I look first?
  13. So forgive my ignorance again, but I didn't see it mentioned in the link. Will both Outback Impreza or Legacy struts work, or just Legacy? Tried PnP today, but no luck. The only OB there had damaged struts on the left side. I'll keep looking.
  14. Good stuff. Is that photo with just the strut lift? You mentioned that you had a spacer and a body lift as well, but I wasn't sure if you had installed them yet?
  15. Roger that! When you installed your struts, did you have to drill any holes in the rear or what is a straight swap? How was axle wear/angle before you swapped in the trailing arms? Thansk for the help. Going to try to get out to PnP this weekend.
  16. Great link - thanks. I saw it, but I guess I saw Impreza and figured that it wouldn't apply to the Legacy. I guess I'm just not that familiar with the Subaru platforms yet.
  17. So the struts give around 2.4 - 3 inches of lift, huh?
  18. Gotcha. So with outback struts/springs and a 1 inch spacer that should be a pretty decent lift without having to lengthen the steering shaft. From what I've read that is about the outer limit for axle angles, right? How much lift can I expect with that combo? Thanks for all of the hlpe...
  19. Also - did you have to lenthen your steering shaft or any other mods?
  20. Nice! I may have to take you up on that. I'm new to the lifted suby thing, so any advice would be sweet. I'd pm you about the struts at PnP but I can't see an option to do that?
  21. Hi all -just picked up a '91 Legacy with a buddy to transform into a trail/camping rig. The first mods will be a lift with some larger tires. In searching around in here, it looks like there are a couple of options - the SJR lift and the outback/forester struts. We were initially thinking just a 2 inch lift, but it depends on what all is involved. If we can go bigger with not much more headache it may be worth it to us. I've got a couple of questions: The outback/forester struts - I read in one post this is only for the front. True? How much do these typically run used/new? The SJR lift - I see that there is a 1.5 inch lift, and a 4 inch lift. From what I understand, nothing is really needed for the 1.5. For the 4 inch, it looks like an extended steering shaft. Anything else needed here (extended driveshaft, etc.)? We are trying to do a cost anaylsis on this and see what fits the budget best. If the 4 inch lift is better/cheaper than the 1.5 inch and strut combination, might be better go that route. Anything I'm missing? Recommendations either way? If we go the SJR route, at least we are a short hop up North to Bellingham....
  22. Thanks for all the feedback. This prompts a few noob questions: Were the Loyales available with the dual range? The dual range is only the manual trans, right? Are there different/better options for the auto trans? Any reliability concerns with the turbo setup versus the EJ for example? Tell me more about the Legacy center diff locking mod - that means all four wheels are locked? Or just that 4WD is engaged full time? Thanks again!
  23. Thanks for the reply. How involved is the EJ22 swap?
