!987 subaru gl wont idle. Mechanic said primary jet clogged and needs rebuilt and he doesn't do that kind of work.Is there some fuel cleaner or something else that can be done. Need help! How about you Gloyale. Thanks

I have 1987 subaru gl 1.8 l Drove it through deep snow to get home.Now it won't idle.It will start but not idle unless i keep foot on gas and above 1000 rpm.No vacumn hoses or wires off i could see.Don't no where else to look. Does anyone know what happened. Thanks for your help.

I need to replace both front hubs on 1987 subaru gl 4x4 4 dr sedan.Do they come with rotors in one assembley.Or do they have to be replaced seperatly? Need help!

Why doesn't anyone know how to set choke and idle on Subaru gl.It won't idle when engine cold.It has something that looks like a round cannister with a L shaped arm that hooks onto the throttle but it doesn't seem to retract or move.Can you tell me what is called so i find a new one.There were over 30 views on this topic but only 3 replys that were of no help.Is there anyone in this country that knows this stuff? I have 1987 subaru gl 1.8 l 2-bbl carburator. I had it tuned up last week. The fast idle no longer works when engine is cold. I have to use accelerator to raise RPM'S.till warm.Doesn't the fast idle cam control that?Did something come loose or break?Does any one know anything about Subaru gl carbs or how a fast idle cam works.No one in this town does. Need your help winter is coming! Thanks

When ac compressor engages it will squeal loud .Not all the time but enough. Is it the clutch?or something else.I don't use ac i'm afraid it will break belt. Need your help it's getting getting hot here in illinois. Thanks!

1987 Subaru gl 3 speed automatic I have been having clunking,grinding type noises from front end when accelerating from a stop.Does not do it at other times.I have taken the advise of some of the replys to my previous posts on Subaru forum.Have replaced both front cv axles,wheel bearings and left hub.What else could it be??? .No one in this town knows! Is there someone who has a idea? I don't want to junk it. Car has only 87,000. Engine runs good. Thanks............Used Car

Everyone said it could be bad hub.Had it taken off axle and found hub teeth stripped. I am having another hub put on today. Thanks for knowing what your talking about. Used car...

1987 subaru gl 1.8 Liter front wheel dr w/4x4 has a clunking and grinding sound when accererating .Stops when i turn wheel to left ...one mechanic said cv axle,one said wheel bearings.one said ball joints.They all said drivers side front end.Replaced Left cv axle.ball joint and wheel bearing.Did absoulutly no good. Right front end had same thing done 8 months before.Seemed to help alittle bit for a short while.But is now bad as ever.I'm at a dead end.I don't no where to go any more. local mechanics dont know anything...Is there a real Subaru mechanic out there any where that knows!...Please let me know. -used car-

Yes it does have a lot of play side to side!

Both cv axles have been replaced.

1987 subaru gl 1.8 4 wheel drive.Making clunking and popping noises in front end.Took it to mechanic who said axle shaft going into differential is real loose and causing the noise.He is not a transmission man he said and does not know how to fix it.I need your help! What is wrong and how to fix it.Need car to get to work.Both front cv axle shafts have been replaced. It is the transmission stub that is real loose.
