In my infinite wisdom I was attempting to tighten my drive belts but I was tightening the wrong bolt and the guide that it was in snapped... Have no idea what it is for. I have a 1999 legacy with the 2.2 and the bolt itself is pretty long a couple inches. In this picture it is next to the AC condenser (to the left and below it). You can see the bolt next to the 2 other bolts there. At the bottom it snapped the guide that it was sitting in. What in the world did I break??

My wagon has some leg in accelerating. It is a stick and around 2,000 rpms there is a lag, it does not want to go any faster. To me it feels like an auto tranny not wanting to downshift on a hill. After 3400 rpms the leg is gone and the power is back. It has a completely rebuilt engine, seals, gaskets, a new crank and one new rod. I found out the answer to this problem and it was the knock sensor. Below the knock sensor someone helped me place a small donut shaped gasket and this immedialetly fixed the problem. I just got a new knock sensor today and thought that it would solve the problem for good but it is back. The homemade gasket is not underneath the knock sensor. Has anyone had a problem like this and could it be part of the rebuilt engine?

So it seems like I might have stumbled upon a really good deal. The only owner of this car did change the oil and he spun a rod bearing. So the guy who is selling it to me bought it from him and took it back to his house. He is in the process of a complete rebuild. New crank, new valves, new clutch, seals, gaskets, he is doing everything because why not? Hes already in the engine. He is a super good mechanic and I trust his work will be better than any old rebuild shop. The car 70,000 miles on it, standard transmission, exterior and interior are in super good shape 10/10. He wants 5,000 for it which to me seems like a screamin deal. What do you guys think?

Hi so I am looking at a 1998 outback limited with 130,000 miles on the engine it has a new timing belt and the head gaskets were replaced. I haven't gone and looked at it but from the pictures the exterior and interior look very nice. Is there anything with these outbacks that I should look for? And are they good subarus? heres the link to the ad, http://bellingham.craigslist.org/cto/3652754862.html

Fuel Injector 1988 GL 10
scoobywagon45 replied to scoobywagon45's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Its just a fuel system code, Sometimes in the mornings it starts and then sputters out, i have to goose it to keep it going, then I let it idle for a couple minutes and its fine.
