  1. It's been 7 months since I put this topic up. Still have not found the part numbers for the transmission. My Brat is just sitting till I can find the correct part numbers. Please! any member out there, do you have the part numbers so I can buy the parts to re-seal my transmission? Thanks.
  2. I have a 1979 Parts manual in PDF. It's just not clear on the oil seals for the transmission. In fact, I don't even see a picture of the ones that go where the axles mount to the transmission.
  3. The transmission just started making this strange grinding noise. I thought something was wrong with the left CV axle. It was going bad. I had a new replacement so, I changed it. Didn’t help at all. I put it up on jack stands so the front wheels were off the ground. I put it in first and it would not freely move the wheels without giving it a lot of gas. It vibrates really bad too. It shifts fine. Definitely not the clutch. Paul, you wouldn’t happen to know any of the part numbers for any of the oil seals I need would you?
  4. The transmission in my 78 Brat has gone bad. I have no idea what is wrong with it but I have a replacement transmission for it. I really am just looking for some help with finding the correct oil seals for it. Specifically the oil seals where the axles mount to the transmission and back at the shifter. The usual chronic places where our transmissions leak. Also, is there anything I can buy for the shifter bushings? Thanks. Richard
  5. You don't need the trim. Mine has been in my 78 Brat for almost 2 years now. No problems. The trim is just a cosmetic piece.
  6. I paid $25 to ship a EA-71 strapped to a pallet. That was about 8 years ago though.
  7. Let me know what you want for the front door hinges. Upper and lower on both front doors please. Thanks! Richard
  8. You could do either. Grind a notch or spacers.
  9. Just buy a carb rebuild kit for it. They are quite easy to rebuild. And if you want to use those wheels you bought, they look like EA-82 wheels you just need to grind a small notch on each one of the trailing arm where the wheel was rubbing. I did that on my first Brat 11 years ago when I did not have any other wheels to put on mine. Just make sure you put some primer or paint over the freshly ground area to keep it from rusting. It's not ideal but it can work.
  10. Just need a set of these and your ride will be real comfortable 2003 WRX seats
  11. Welcome to the Brat. These are the same exact problems I discovered when I got my first Brat 11 years ago. Just getting more difficult as time goes on to find parts. My suggestion, parts car. They come in handy. lots of this stuff just is not made anymore. Nice to have spares. Shocks and struts, just have to keep looking or find something that will work for you. I have heard that gen 2 Brat struts will work in the front with some modification.
  12. 17mm nut and a light tap. If needed. Comes off easy
  13. If they are hard to come by? I guess that depends. I got my first set of seats with no frame. It took me over a year to find a frame. After that I kept finding them all the time. And a gen 2 frame is the same. Only thing different about the Gen 2 is the headrests. The mounting holes are not in the same place.
