  1. Just had same problem .I found the hose was leaking at clamp where it whent into pump never would know it was leaking looked good but was sucking air steering same as you described did not have to bleed or anything new hose and clamp filled resevoir problem was instantly gone
  2. i CHANGED THE O RING AND INSTALLED NEW HOSE IT WORKS GREAT NOW THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP .....jIM
  3. i just replaced engine in my 2002 out back h6 3.0... Before engine was removed power steering was excellent ..During engine removel I had power steering lines drained & then dropped power steering down because I was thinking i needed to do this to get at tourque converter bolts till i discovered there on engine top thats another story .. any way moter in and runs great..I learned allot thanks to you good people. The power steering was installed the same way plenty of fluid but now its noisy and whiney still has power steering going down road , my question Do these systems have to have air bled out or something I can't figure out whats wrong.. Any help would be appreciated...Jim

  5. i just put a engine in my 2002 outback 3.0 h6 moter runs great then water pump failed need to change out . I know how to get to the pump my problem is i practiced on the junk 3.o h6 to remove water pump and noticed when i loosened the timing chain right side of engine the head gears rolled need to loosen chain i think to get water pump out how do you hold two gears in place when you loosen timing chain dont want to get out of time is there a special tool ?
