  1. Hmmm, I've never had to take the belts or tensioner off to do a water pump...
  2. I don't suppose the engine is carburated? and functional? and will it work in a GL or DL?
  3. yeah, I know it's going to have to come off so I can do the gasket. this is a 86 EA82 SPFI. I had a line on a pair of known good heads but i suffered a catastrophic email meltdown and lost the guy in oregon's email address
  4. Ok, I'm looking at my wifes soob, i'm getting exhaust gas into the cooling system, is there any way to tell with a compression gauge if it's a blown head gasket or cracked head? or am I gonna have to strip the engine out and pull the heads and have them pressure tested?
  5. >question quality of parts >CHAMPION is crap, use NGK >fuel? sensors? timing? Napa -gold- plugwires, Echlin cap and rotor, NGK plugs Seems to be getting fuel, and I've tried using a little starting fluid on it, no luck... Not sure on the timing, can't find my timing light
  6. Ok, wife tried doing me a favor this weekend, and I'm at my wits end She went to a local car parts place and got a friend of hers who works there to help her change the cap, rotor, plugs, plugwires and air filter. They put the plug wires on wrong, and tried to start it up... it backfired once and just continued cranking. I've got the wires in the right location and firing orders, I've tested for spark, and though it seems a wee bit weak it's there, and the car was running with this coil before. the cap and rotor seem to be the right ones, and with a timing light I verified that I'm getting spark through all of the plug wires. the old cap was rusty in one tower, and well carboned inside. This is a 87 GL wagon, 4WD 5SP manual, SPFI...

  8. I have a selection of cracked carb/spfi heads that are cracked in various ways... if I have these (mig/tig) welded will they last???
  9. Ok, NEITHER of the manuals that I have tell how/where to access the shift linkage adjust for the automatic wagon... I just got a 86 auto wagon with pushbutton 1 range 4WD, and the tranny is in Park when the shifter is sitting in reverse..... HELP! I need to get this adjusted....
  10. Does anyone have a source for the bulbs in the lighted switches in the 85-9x roux's?
  11. Sometimes it seems to be reading close to correct, other times it is reading ~ 6K rpm when it's actuallly doing between 1500 and 2k rpm any ideas?
