  1. i wish i would have seen this earlier, i just bought a 86 gl10 TUrbo. I would have been there in my gsx though (the subaru isnt driving yet). Maybe we can have another meet sometime this winter and go rip it up somewhere...
  2. no, i havent. Keep in mind im new at automatic transmition mechanics...
  3. Mine got twisted. How do i replace, and how much for the parts? I didnt put the tq. converter in correctly (my first a/t motor pull), and im reallypaying for it now...
  4. well bad news for me, **** has definatly hit the fan. Pulled motor, and well you guys seemed to have called it, the smallest shaft (i believe the pump shaft) was twisted and ground away. Im pretty pisseed as this is supposed to be a 200dollar project including the price of the car. ANy suggestions?
  5. THanks, that information will help tons. Wish me luck as the motor is comming out soon...
  6. yeah thats the one, ok thats good, i deleted a/c so i wont be neeeding that, im glad its nothign important. thanks for the help
  7. yeah i cannot find it, ive been searching but i find nothing...
  8. Sorry, dont have any pictures, but i can describe it. There is 2 wires coming out of a little black box, kind of looks like it might be a magnet, but its not. THe black box is screwed to a metal bracket (also black) that is drilled for 2 10mm bolts. The two wires are red, and green with a white stripe, and go to a purplish colored connector. anyone know where it goes or what it does??
  9. someone told me that there is a special way to mount the tq converter into the imput shaft, and if its not done correctly, it wont go into any gears. Somthing about the center shaft not lining up? Anyone second this?
  10. I pulled the engine with the tq converter connected to the flywheel, i didnt take it off the flywheel, but when we pulled it, some fluid came out of the female simput shaft slot.
  11. 1986 GL-10 Turbo FWD. Just pulled motor (not tranny) to replace headgaskets/t-belts. Got it all back in, starts fine runs fine, but now, tranny wont go into any gears. I will shift from Park to Reverse to Drive, but it will just stay in Neutral. I put the right amounts of fluid in the tranny, and still nothign... Any ideas?
  12. ok i found out that the brass bullit shaped thing and spring go into the throttle body on the top of the intake manifold. Anyone know about eliminationg vaccume lines/emisssions??
  13. Ok, just swaped timing belts and headgaskets on my 86 gl10, and i want to get rid of everything to do with emissions. i want some breather filters, and i want to get rid of as many hoses as i can (most if not all of the rubber hoses are cracked). Where does everything go and what do they do? Anyone have a diagram? Also, upon removal of everything (to do headgaskets), i came across a bullit shaped part, and it looks as if a spring might fit into it?! where does it go and what does it do????
  14. ok thanks for all the great help, its apreciated. I am gettting the car for 50 dollars and i guess it just needs a hg. its got like 130,000 on it, and everything else is good, turbo spools well, im fixing it to sell to a friend. so any ideas of a price? i have no idea of what these cars are worth...
  15. I think im only going to replace the head gaskets (maybe the belts too depending on the current shape). It doesnt need arp's, maybe new bolts but definatly not arps. i run arps in my turbo eclipse, and lets just say it can handle 45 lbs of boost. the car just needs to last through the winter though. i dont have the car yet, so i dont know about it yet. i dont have any experiance with flat fours so wish me luck. btw, running well how much can i sell an 86 gl10 for? just ballpark. Also, do i replace tensioners when doing tbelts? anything else? Is the motor hard to pull out? any tips?
  16. anyone done one on an 86 gl-10 turbo? I might aquire one soon and want to know what im getting into. lets hear it...
