  1. Hopefully I am giving myself a early chrismas present of a running EA71 with a Delta Cam preformance grind, port and polish, and a Weber Carb. My only problem is that I hear I can change the valve clearance to less than stock with the Delta Cam. But I am not sure how much less........What have you guys found?
  2. I have a 78 EA71 in the the Machine Shop. After getting it all cleaned up, we found that there are some fine scatches on bottom of the cylinders. The Machinist checked that ovalization and found it is worn, however it is with in tolerance (bearly). I am near the end of my budget and worried about paying for the bore job and new pistons. If you were me, would you brake the budget and get the pistion/ bore job or would you let it slide ???????
  3. Sorry, I don't have any pictures handy, however the engine does have the water crossover pipe that you speak of.. Are you saying that the main bearings for all those years are the same, even they are list as being different?
  4. Hey Guys, I got an EA71 that could be a 78 or a 79. I am buying new main bearings and they changed between those years. I need to figure out what year my engine is, however no one around here knows. The engine number on the block is NO 119962. What does that number stand for and what year is the engine?
  5. Hey Guys, I am new to the message board, but I am checking in with a 1977 GL Wagon. I currently have my EA71 in the machine shop getting it cleaned up and run through the paces. I have bought a Weber carb. which I will put on soon. I am considering taking some off the heads for higher compression and getting a performance ground cam. If any one has opinions on those moves (AKA if they are worth it or not), I could use the input. -One and half 1977 Subaru wagons
