Those are not rubber. Those are metal “hide” strips for lack of the proper term.
They cover the open space otherwise provided by the impact bumper. We older folks will say impact bumper because that’s the era the DOT started with shock absorbing bumpers. So they put the strip Over the bumper so if the bumper does get compressed it should do so beneath that strip and if it was a light hit possible bounce back out from the “shocks”.
An eBay seller has one of those shocks on right now.
They are rubber, only the US got those disgusting Impact bumpers. The rubber covers were on the Hardtops like one of mine here

I have a Microfiche scanner here at my work that automatically feeds, scans and
converts it into PDF. Unfortunately I’m in Australia. I’d be willing to pay for
postage and send back, or buy them. I’d share the files in here when done. -
Nice, shame about the 32/36 Weber.

EA71 don't have removable Cylinder liners like early EA63, you'll have to bore it out or find another block.

BRAT (Brumby) doors are longer than 4 door sedan and wagons, You can use doors from coupes, hardtops and 2 door sedans.
-
Remove the trim inside the cab first.

1981 Gen 1 Brumbies came out with the EA81.

What make is the "aftermarket 1600"?

Was it in Yass? What colour? 77 would be a 1600 and only Hardtop or 2 door sedans were available in 77 in Australia I believe.

The coupes rear window got smashed in storage.
And, err, maybe.
Don't part it, send it across the ditch first :-)

You're not going to use the hardtop as a parts car are you?
