  1. The oil sending unit attaches to the block, I ordered a unit for a guage not light and it was to big of threads, only the sending unit for light fits on the block,I remember my 86 brat sending unit used the guage one, do you remember if it mounts to the block or oil pump? The threads or to big and it won't fit in space on block.
  2. Hi, been working on my 84 Brat. I have two issues. The ignition key cylinder get stuck and when I try to start it takes a few tries of turning the key cylinder and holding to get it to work, do I need to replace the whole cylinder or is there a switch? My oil pressure guage rises when I turn ignition on peggs out at top but then falls down and does not register, switch out oil sending unit and does same, car runs fine , think there might be a wire bad ground any ideas where to start, , thanks Ray in Seattle

  7. Thanks for the info. The things i would ad is you have to use the bearings from your old lock cylinder, and there is a really thin retaining clip holding the larger bearing in place, took me awhile to get bearing out as almost impossible to see clip, thanks though .

  14. I have a 1986 brat, the electric fan won't come on. Jumped the fan to test and it works, looked on the fuse panel and did not find one for the fan, all the rest are good. Just changed the thermostat because it was getting hot seem to correct that problem but fan still does not come on. Any ideas? Thanks Ray i
  15. Have a 86 brat, noticed the brakes felt like they were grabbing. Got home and jacked it up and all wheels spin except the left front. It stuck and won't spin. Calipers were replaced about 4 to 5 years ago, still alot of pad left on both. Any ideas how to release tension so it will spin or remove it. My master cylinder has had a slow leak think it the seals, but the fluid level is full. Have a hill holder also...thanks Ray....

  20. I took the starter out of my brat and stuck it in my wife's hatch. Just to make sure it was not the starter. It did the same thing. So I am pretty sure it is the ignition switch. Tried the relay but it kept blowing the 15 amp fuse. If I replace the ignition switch is it the whole key cylinder or is there a seperate ignition switch on the colum. thanks ray......
  21. installed bosh relay, easy install. Works for about 5 starts then blows 15 amp fuse in new relay. Any ideas why fuse is blowing, what should I do next replace ignition switch or starter. Already jumped starter and it starts when jumped , thanks ray in Seattle.
  22. Gloyale, any special relay your talking about is there a part #.
  23. Ran a wire like you guys said, and it started , tried it 10 times started every tilme. So sound like the starter ok, but I guess it the ignition switch. It's my wifes car so sort of interested in a new ignition switch. Any idea where to get one if you still can and how much to have someone install. Thanks Ray in Seattle
  24. Skip, how can you tell if it's the starter or the ignition switch. When i turn the key nothing happens no cranking, but then if i hold it long enough or try it again it will crank over. Sometimes it might take 1 to 5 tries, but getting worst. Checked on a starter today at Napa $95.00. Want to buy it but wondering what if it's the ignition switch are they still available. Thanks for your help Ray in Seattle...........
