  1. A 2007 thread on this subject seemed to indicate that a pedal that pushes to the floor is a master cylinder issue. A hard to depress (esp. in very cold weather) brake pedal is brake power booster issue. I just had this happen to me thin morning. 4 degrees outside, brake hard to depress, little braking action when reversing out of (flat) driveway. Cleared up almost immediately. 2011 Outback Sport with 53000 miles.
  2. New (second) recall just announced. First repair not always sufficient. Will now wax brake line to prevent moisture from forming rust.
  3. I had this happen on my 2011 Outback Sport this morning. Scared the crap out of me. 4 degrees outside, with colder wind chill. Backed car out of driveway, found brakes to be "frozen" (very little play in pedal, very little braking action). They became responsive almost immediately after putting the gear in drive, however. Car is 4 years old, with 53,000 miles. I guess a stop at the repair shop is in order. At least now I know what to tell them to look for!
