  1. thanks for that, it's an E82 '91 Wagon, the sender is found under a plate in the back cargo area. I am bewildered by electronics but I will try and check the resistance with my multi meter and see how I go. On my motor bike I fitted a resistor (I think) that is adjustable to correct a wild gas gauge, might ask the fellow if he can make one for the wagon..
  2. It takes desperation for me to go to the "experts", once again, Iv'e lost faith. Two of 'em recon they tried to fix!. well, now Iv'e got that done and the new strutts in, my wife has kindly asked, well not kindly, if I would please fix the fuel gauge. Any advise on if the gas tank sensor , in the tank, can be bent, er; adjusted, mine goe to dead empty on full then up to half on half full then down to empty as normal. Have just cleaned the connections but before I pull the sensor out of the tank and cut a new gasket, thought I'd ask.. Many thanks..
  3. Had an idle and surgeing problem that I could not track down, in desperation took to "experts", eight hours and came back worse!, finally I found an intermittant short in a fuel cut off solenoid (Im no expert, so be patient) and also a vacuum leak that I only found by putting the hose under pressure. All is now well!! (The "experts " managed to twist the accelerator pump cup in the bore so that it was stuck, so that was stuffed, how it ran at all has me wondering..)
  4. Excellent, thank you, will attack..
  5. Can I replace the guide pin and sleeve and also the lock pin on the front discs, they appear to be worn and would I need a press at any stage, much appreciated...
  6. Thanks , have new fuel pump, filter, plugs, leads, cap checked, air filter, choke setting, mixture and etc; it's the change in idle from fast to slow , surgeing all the time that makes me think of a vacuum or air problem, have spent hours trying to resolve this and everything I try wont fix. The main problem I have is not understanding what the wonderful valves and heavens knows what on the anti pollution gear actually do and work. My workshop manual is not much use, trys to cover too many models.. a diagram of the various pipes and brief description of what does what would help a lot, can't track one down. Nearest Subaru dealer is three hours away, why am trying to fix.. Thanks Lang
  7. Have an EA82 that has developed a rough idle, have to run above normal idle to keep motor turning, have checked everything possible and re built the carby, also tried another carby, same problem, to me it seems to be getting a vacuum at idle revs and I strongly suspect something to do with the anti pollution gear. Any help would be great as it's got me frustrated, the workshop manual doe's not cover the anti pollution gear too well, but have done my best, it will idle for a short period then gradually slows 'till it stops and occasionally will change revs up and down, got me beat ..It will run perfectly on the road..
