  1. Yep, just one strip, but for anyone else reading this thread who it would matter for, CRC makes a product called stop squeak, I am sure there are others, but that stuff can't catch fire.
  2. It is a little late for a response to this, but do not use duct tape to stop the squeal if you live in a moutain area. It might not catch fire, but it will burn if you are a brake user comming down the moutain. Not really a problem if you are the type to use lower gears to slow yourself down the slope.
  3. You'd think there would be a fuse, but i don't think so. I looked forever, no banked ones or inlines...
  4. I'll tell you what i found in my 91, my wifes 93, and my buddy's girl's 90 is that the seatbelt control module has failed and it is constantly trying to push it forward. As soon as you pull that plastic part off the side, which is easy, no screws or anything, if it has been on a while, you might notice it is warm. Even when it works, it should never beable to run so long it is warm. If it has not been like that for that long, you can reverse the wires to get it to come back, but because the relay that controls it is shot, you need to replace that module, or try to fix it if you want, i guess.
  5. It was rated very good for that year. Now with other considerations that were not taken before like front corner impacts, there is not really a good picture of what it is. Still up there i am sure, but not as high. Side impacts kept it down a bit too. That is where the biggest safey advancements have been made as far as collisions go. Besides that though, the traction systems computer is faster and hence beter able to control in bad situations. Someone said back there you should trade cars with your husband, that is a really god idea if you can get him to take on it.
  6. Unlike everyone else here, i am going to say sell it to one of these guys who say fix it and get another, newer model subie. Don't get me wrong. I am not saying any of these guys are wrong in any way. My 92 legacy has 285k on it and it does not burn or leak any oil, and it still gets 28-25mpg depending on the temperature. I've never changed the berings or any other drivetrain work. Your car can last many more years. However, i do know that there are many great new safety features that have come about since 92, and guessing that the baby will most likely be in your car more, you should get a new one, for the baby. There will always be one of us who don't need to worry about anything be our own transportation that will be here to buy your car. Remember though-- I stress new "subie." Don't sell it and get a saturn or something.
  7. It looks like you have it all taken care of, but http://www.advantageimports.com/ say they have one. There is a whole lot of salvage yards around here though, i only checked here.
  8. that is a excellent link, but i don't think it helps much. I don't know about nowbiteme, but there are no error codes for me when that happens. It seems to be to me that the seatbelt motor is failing and it doesn't have the torque at the end to move it in to the locked position. I am going to open it up and find out what the problem is when the temp gets back above 0. I can't much do it at -20, my hands freeze to the metal parts I'll let you know and take some pictures if you think they will help you.
