  1. My wife and I just got back from our baby shower with all the baby paraphernalia packed into our 98 Outback. We strapped the crib to the roof rack, but everything else fit inside, including a stroller, car seat, diaper this and diaper that, swing, bath tub thingy, more diapers, clothes, bottles, more shampoos and lotions than any baby should have, plus a 90 pound chocolate lab, myself and my pregnant wife. Drove 900 miles in 16.5 hours with the load.
  2. Thanks for the info. I didn't know Autozone would read the codes for free. Now if only there were an autozone within two hundred miles... If it comes to it, I'll look into getting a reader for myself. Peace,
  3. When I went to my friendly hometown dealer to inquire about my hesitation issue (see other thread), I was told it would cost me over $150 simply to plug my 98 OBW into their computer. Really? Isn't there a way to read the codes without all the fancy equipment? By the by, I asked the same dealer about replacing my timing belt. Labor alone was just under $300 and the belt was $90. Instead, I bought a belt at the auto parts store for under 50 bucks and installed it myself in just a few (anxiety-producing) hours. What's the deal with dealers' prices?
  4. I have a slight, though noticable, hesitation when I give my 98 2.5 auto OBW some gas. It happens when it's cold and hot, though not consistently. The same happens when accelerating from a stop. I've got new plugs, but not wires (yet). Could it be that easy? The car has 102,000 miles on it and otherwise runs well. Unrelated: When I bought the car in June, it had severe torque grab. I changed the front and rear differential oil, and also changed the trans fluid. Now, absolutely no grab. It's like a new car.
