  1. For those of you who want to talk to me, my new addy is 'caunce' at optusnet.com.au Brian, I know you have been after me, and yes, I am machining the manifold and repairing the water pipe with 316 stainless. I have find out what type of manifold you have, i.e. EGR or likewise. If you can, take a picture of the back of your manifold and send it to me please. I need to make sure you can swap back for smog testing.
  2. I only have DGEV's, that started life as DGAV's. Plus a few manual chokes. Water choke is too hard to fit. The question I ask is that lepetitprince be absolutly sure that it is a hitachi 36x71mm base as that is what I ausme it will be. I have no experiance with the carter/weber single barrel that some people have. I supply a base gasket with the carb so it has to be correct or someone will get a few parts they don't need. GeneralDisorder, I am seeing if I have time to run another off for you. It may be a while as Brians' is still be machined. Keep me posted if you still want one.
  3. The reluctor type ignitions are very sensitive to overvaltage when an alternator dies, and also hate low voltage if your battery is fried. Had no experiance with the opticals, but killed the reluctor type with a bad alt. This you can't fix, you have to replace the module inside the distributor.
  4. I place the block on the ground on it's top and stand on the two halves while a friend belts it with a deadblow hammer. I know you have stated that the bolts are out, but the one that sits in the right hand side oil gallery is often overlooked. There is also two tabs that can be used for drifting on the centre line of the blocks.
  5. I worked up an engine for a '82 coupe. The owner wound it off the clock so he knows it was above 180KPH. Checked his speedo with a GPS and found it to be spot on at 100KPH, but error does occur at higher speeds. For intrest sake, it was a 25/65 cam, Weber 32/36 (a bit small) and 9:1 comp. Lots of little things done to it but they are the main things.
