Yeah, I do have spark. I checked that at the plug. I put a fresh filter on when I changed the fuel pump. I have fuel coming from the 'out' side of the filter. I also have fuel coming from the return line from the injectors to the tank. I have an 88 xt fsm, and it said that code 14 was 'injectors 1&2 output abnormal'. My car is an 87 1/2. Is the code different for the 87 1/2? If they are different, can someone tell me what code 15 is? Is code 22 still knock sensor? Thanks for all of these ideas!!!

I replaced the fuel pump, and made sure it was pumping. I also made sure that when cyl. #1 was at btdc, the rotor was at the #1 plug wire. I just don't think my injectors are injecting. Would the lack of a knock sensor keep them from working? I do have the spider intake, but I don't know what year model the engine is. The engine does still have it's i.d. sticker on it near the hole for the rear timing marks

Hi! I need help!! I have an 87 1/2 xt. It used to be a turbo, but now has a n/a engine. I don't know who did the swap, but it was probably 5 years ago or so. It changed hands a couple of times before I got it, and I don't think it has ever run since the engine swap. I can't get it started. I made sure the timing was correct, checked fusible links, installed a new fuel pump, verified voltage at injectors, and made sure I had spark. It will 'hit' with starting fluid, but even then, it barely hits, but never runs. When the green plug is plugged, I get a code of '1'. I don't know what that is. When only the black plug is plugged in, I get codes '14', '15', and '22'. My 88'FSM says what they are, but I'm not sure what to do at this point. If the car still has the turbo ecu in it, will it fire the n/a injectors? I never smell gas while trying to start the car...none. I suspect the injectors are not operating, but it would seem odd to have all 4 be bad. Is there a way I can tell if I have the turbo ecu still in the car? Or does that matter? Anyone near Nashville, TN., wanna maybe rescue me? haha...

Had time to get under the xt today to check the fuel pump voltage. I haven't had any gas in the engine compartment since I got the car. I found the pump relay inside the radio compartment and verified voltage at the relay, and it was there. Next, I unplugged the pump, and hooked my meter up to the plug whilest my 12 year old daughter turned the key on. There was approx. 11 volts showing, though only momentarily when the ignition was turned to on, but I think that's right. I plugged the pump back up, and had her turn the key again. I could feel the pump 'click', but it didn't ever seem to 'hum' ... even when the motor was cranked repeatedly. I took the line off the pressure side of the pump, and had her crank the car again, but no pressure at all. I put my finger over the hole, and had her crank it more, but not pressure. It would click when the key was turned on, but no pressure. I even put 5 gallons of gas in just in case there wasn't enough in the tank to feed the pump. Anyone have any suggestions? I thought I might actually get it to putt a little today, but no luck.

More info...87 1/2 xt from luvscooby

Ahhh....that's good information....I'll check that. I dont' know if the car has ever run since the motor swap was done. No one knew anything about the car, so I'm kinda on my own to investigate it. I know a little about the green connector, but what about the black one next to it...the small one? I cant' find any info on it in my ""Chiltons"" ...I know .....no surprise. I assume in normal operations, both of these are unplugged, right? I will try the green plug and the ignition on. It may be a few days before I get the chance. Thanks!!!! -
Yeah, when I got the car, the timing covers were in the trunk. It had two new timing belts on it, but when I checked, the timing was way...way out. I think I got the timing right, and it turns over very freely. I just have no fuel. I replaced the pump with another used pump, but still no fuel. I haven't been able to check the pump relay, nor have I been able to verify voltage at the pump connector. I work nights, and lots of overtime, so I don't get to play with it much now. I placed another post with more info about the car...check it out if you can....it tells a little more about how it was when I got it. The car was not running when I got it, and still does not run, but I haven't had the chance to do much to it. Thanks for all the info so far....keep it coming.!!!!

Thanks for the responses from my first post. I got a lot of good information. I wanted to give a little more info on my xt. I have had the car for about 5 months. I found it behind a tote the note that has a max inventory of about 8 cars. I picked it up for 200 bucks. When I got the car, this is what I found...the timing covers, and everything that would be mounted in front of them were all pitched in the trunk.....I mean pulleys, brackets, both fans and lots of other little things that I have yet to determine whether even go on the car. I had a roll-back tow it to my house. It's an 87 1/2 xt gl-10. The car was origionally a turbo. It has the crossmember with the indention for the turbo exhaust, and some of the turbo gadgets are still mounted on the inner fenders. It has the digi-dash that shows the turbo boost on it. I learned from some really nice people on xt6.net how to check the timing. It had 2 new timing belts on it, and they were WAY out of time. The fuel line from the filter was missing, as was the line from the spyder intake to the break booster. The motor turns freely. I don't know if the car has run since the motor swap occurred. That may have been 2 or 3 years ago....I don't know. With a fresh battery, my air suspension seems to function very well, and a buddy from the other site came to check it out, and said it had the strongest running compressor(for the suspension) that he had ever seen. The car is silver, with blue interior....5-speed....uhm....has a sunroof....pushbutton awd button in the console. That kinda sums up the car. I think I have the car back in time now. I put fresh plugs in it, and was gonna try to fire it up. My current problem is I am not pumping any fuel. I took the origional pump off, and tried to hook it straight to the battery, but got nothing. I got another used pump from a friend, and put it on the car without testing it first, and still have no fuel. I sat in the car with the fuel line run from the filter around and held it in my hand and turned the key...I don't feel any pressure from the line. I still have not checked the plug to the pump to see if I have any current...my job prevents me from playing with it much. I know I need to check that and the relay in the dash....whichever one it is. Any other suggestions? Thanks!!!!

Hello to everyone. I just became a member, and this is my first post. I have an 87 1/2 subaru xt with a 5-speed, and awd. I bought my car for about 200 bucks, with approx. 102,000. miles on it. It isn't running, and I don't know why just yet, but the engine turns freely. Currently, I have no fuel from the pump, and I suspect that I don't have any power to it, but have not had a chance to fully investigate it yet. Anyway, I'm in middle tennessee area...anyone close? I'll be back with lots of questions. Thanks!!!
